Katy Perry Performing at Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show

That's so funny. I was watching ESPN College Game Day last week when she was guest picker, and she said point blank "I'm not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl." I laughed it off as being topical, since it's been rumored that the NFL has asked artists to pay for the privilege. Now it turns out she was being serious.

So much for the "draft Weird Al" campaign, at least for this year.

By the way, Katy Perry has already had at least one "wardrobe malfunction," something that the Super Bowl people might want to take into consideration.

Don't get me wrong, Katy Perry can certainly afford it, but I think in the popular vote, Weird Al has this in the bag.

I wonder how many people are aware that even if Katy Perry might not personally be willing to "pay to play", that doesn't mean her label won't.

You have a point. Universal is the biggest record conglomerate on the planet. We'll just have to see in the coming years which label's artists get exclusive Super Bowl promotion. If it's just Universal, it's safe to say we can smell a rat.....

It's only fitting that the Worst Game of the Season would get one of today's musical idiots to play in what is usually a ho-hum appearance.

Hmmm...Universal Music Group...NBC airing Super Bowl XLIX...any conflict with that one? Hmmm again! :p

(Comcast and NBC-Universal...interesting!)

Money isn't limited to just one label.

Of course it isn't. There's Universal, Geffen, Motown, UNI, DGC, Decca, A&M, Mercury, Polydor, EMI, Capitol, Fontana, Pathe, etc, etc, etc.

What I'm saying is if you can see a string of artists conveniently under the Universal Music Group umbrella at every Super Bowl halftime show for years to come, you may ponder a bit.....

"Ponder" about what? It's not illegal. Last year's artist was Bruno Mars, who's on Atlantic. Beyoncé is on Sony.

However, if Universal wants to pay for the spot in the show, so what?

Why did you refer to Katy Perry as "one of today's musical idiots"? That was very wrong; imagine how you would feel if you were to learn that someone had posted a mean message about you on a message board like this one.

Well, you have to realize that (on another forum) cannedtuna stated his view that there hasn't been a good popular record made since 1984. (That's 30 years, if you're counting.) In other words, it's time for that Night Ranger reunion...

Nooooooooo. That is NOT what I said. What I said was the music from THAT era is much better than the music from THIS era.

Please be accurate.....or mute your mouth.

Direct quote from Mr. Tuna's post on the other forum:

I keep saying that the Rock music of 1955-1984 has no equal and will remain popular long after the current dismal junk is forgotten.

Same difference.

I said "I keep saying that the Rock music of 1955-1984 has no equal and will remain popular long after the current dismal junk is forgotten." which DOES NOT EQUAL what you said "cannedtuna stated his view that there hasn't been a good popular record made since 1984."

Quit putting words in my mouth.
