New ratings are in for November 2014

Three points -

#1. When did KJR flip to "Jet Radio" again? If I recall, they had a higher share prior to the switch. I really haven't sampled the new morning show, but it seems hard to believe that anything could top Bob Rivers and his loyal following.

#2. Its always nice to be reassured that AM still serves a purpose.

#3 The bottom-dwellers always seem to be the same. It can be expected for certain stations to have a lower listening audience, but some of these stations just seem like they are in trouble. I still think KYNW would be more successful if it wasn't just a Hot-AC jukebox with some syndicated programming. But hey, if it isn't losing money then more power to em'.

ford...

KJR flipped right after Bob ended his show and yes, they did have a higher rating previous :p The new show is Marti & Jodi with Pedro and Luiciana - it's still mostly music at this point.

As for the latest ratings, I notice KIRO is way up but I assume that's the Seahawk bump? KZOK is way up too for.....some reason.

Yeah... I tried listening to the morning show. As a young person who is trying to improve on my radio skills every day, I really cannot say anything bad about anyone who has to tackle a morning show. The KJR morning show really wasn't my personal taste per say, but maybe I just miss Bob.

"40 minutes.. Of NON stop 'State Farm' and 'Progressive' commercials... starting NOW... on Seattle's one and ONLY CLASSIC rock station, 102.5 KZOK."

LOL!

I'm having Bob Rivers withdrawals myself...I know some listeners were complaining that Bob talked to much about the "3 B's" (blueberries, bees and his band) but at least he had lot of variety on his show and tackled serious subjects, Danny B and company for example, just do the same thing everyday :( (news discussion/entertainment and sports "PLAYOFFS?"/question-call in from the listeners/Danny B lifecoach/Sara's filthy forcast/more call in from listeners/ more news discussion/rinse and repeat) :)

btw, does anyone here think that Bob's retirement was all his decision? (I do) or maybe he found out that the station was going to start playing Madonna and Michael Jackson songs again and he said, "THAT'S IT, I'M OUTTA HERE"

When I tuned in to the new KJR morning show they were running some sort of segment called "Judge Jodi" which was intended to be funny, but it seemed like it fell pretty flat. Again, I know how hard it is to be a morning personality and i'm not trying to be a critic, but it just was a little hard to listen to and i'm really not interested in giving it another try.

I actually like Danny's show, but it is hard at times to listen every day (just because of the predicability). I think that listener interaction is one of the best things about the KZOK morning show. I give them an A+ for segments like Life Coach, morning survey, etc.

You never know! Bob has been on KIRO-FM quite a bit lately, so I really don't think he is ready for complete retirement.

I wish we could see how well KMCQ is doing. I seem to hear them everywhere. I thought KJR-FM would be doing better than it is. Seeing as KQMV pulled almost a 7 share a month back and Kiss seems to be satisfied with high 3 share range means they need to do something.

Are there any personalities over at KMCQ yet? If they could bring in some entertaining (and CONSISTENT) personalities, they would be in really good shape.

Randy Lundquist and Heidi May

It sounds to me like Randy Lundquist is the face of the station at events in the community and Hidy May seems to be production director. I wish they'd put both of them on regular airshifts.

KJR’s rating will continue their decline. The “Jet” still plays the same old 200 burned-to-a-crisp songs and there is little, if any, reason for folks to listen – no personality, no innovation and no fun.

KMCQ is also flawed. They cannot afford to hire full-time personalities while they are basically giving their spots away – Clear Channel (iHeart) has deeper pockets than Ohana (who is operating KMCQ) and will easily outlast them that battle. Also, keep in mind that Charles Dreifus still has KMCQ on the auction block – price is down to about $12 million – and it will be difficult to obtain in this market. They incurred lots of sunk costs moving the station to Cougar.
Not only are these two stations battling against each other and, to some extent, KZOK, but against the growing internet radio market – outlets like Vinylradionw.com and others are finding their niche and with smartphones and internet-ready cars, terrestrial radio will find greater difficulty in effectively competing economically.

I would assume that Rivers listeners who like talk radio would either go to KZOK or KISW for morning talk. KHTP, KLCK and KUBE all sure seem to be in trouble with their trends. KLCK just added personalities so they are making moves to turn that tide at least.

Was it not long ago that that a newspaper editorial came out profiling the success of KHTP? I don't see THAT much success coming from them at the moment. They made a nice flash in the frying pan with their commercial free month of broadcasting, but it doesn't seem like Seattle really has that much interest now that they are consistent. I can't say I have ever listened to Candy and Potter in the morning, but it seems like they can't catch a break around here. They didn't last long over on KMPS, and i'm not quite sure how long they are going to stay over on KHTP.

As for KUBE... well... no comment.

I think one of them should go Classic Hip-Hop (The current fad format.)

KMCQ is not the "niche" station it used to be. I remember 3-4 years ago they were fun to listen to - the new guys don't even know who Merilee Rush and The Ventures are nowadays. Does anyone know how many songs the old "All Songs of the 60s and 70s" format used to have? I'll say 3-5,000 or more.
KUBE is the same as 106.1 except for a few more rap songs. BORING!
I give the Jet 6 more months, tops. They will CONTINUE to tank because it is an iCrapMedia station.
KKWF/KMPS still have the same 200 country songs, over and over.
KLCK continues to tank. Now a 2.3. They were 3.3 in August. I'm sure they would be back to 3.3 if they were KWJZ again. KLCK is the same boring 100 "Modern AC" song playlist. How many stations in Seattle can you hear Imagine Dragons, Katy Perry and Mumford & Sons on...again? I can already see at least 5 or 6 stations.
Flipping back to AAA might be much better for KHTP - or going 80s/90s Rhythmic AC. I was sad to hear of the flip to CHR on KWNZ-106.3 in Reno/Lovelock NV. They were a GREAT Rhythmic AC full of 80s and 90s goodies - a few currents but not many.
