Question about Wired

With all the speculation that CBS will be simulcasting KYW on 96.5 once they acquire that station, would it make sense for Beasley to move Wired to 99.5 in place of WJBR? Would Beasley make more money with Wired on 99.5 targeting Philadelphia than leaving WJBR targeting Wilmington? Does WJBR take any bite out of More's ratings? I assume More does well down in DE just like it does in the Philly metro area.

The Wired Format will be staying with CBS. Once they take over in the next few days!

WJBR has been in the #1 or #2 spot back and forth with WSTW for the past 20 years, even when the Philly stations showed on the 12+ public numbers. So I'd have to guess that no, WJBR is in a solid and profitable situation here. I'm assuming WJBR's spot load is very solid, just like WSTW's. They're the two big radio stations in Wilmington to buy radio time with great local demos. Buying time on a Philly station means higher costs and most of that audience doesn't care about a Wilmington business so their spot gets a bigger bang for their buck by buying time on a Wilmingtoncentric station like WJBR and WSTW. So alienating their Wilmington audience to become a more Phillycentric station, targeting Philly listeners rather than Wilmington listeners, might not be the thing to do.

That would be stupid to blow up WJBR for Wired. Why blow up a successful format that's been on the frequency for years.

Beasley has been clear about their intention to make WJBR a Philly station. They said so from the time they bought it. No matter what their Wilmington numbers are like, they've always been an also-ran in Philly.

In all likelihood, the sales agreement keeps Beasley from blow-up anything before they vacate. The calls go with the license, so it's not available until such time as CBS decides to let them go. So, in effect, Beasley is starting from scratch. Meanwhile, PHI makes a big play for Wired's listeners if and when CBS drops the format.

Except for the fact that WPHI already vacated the space that competes with Wired....and went Boom.

Not happening buddy! WJBR is a very successful radio station. I have to say that wired 96.5 is coming to its end on analog FM radio, they might keep it on internet and on a HD-2 channel like they did with WYSP but am afraid that wired is coming to an end.
