Krth 101 personality changes - weekends purged?

K.M., I didn't exactly break a promise. Someone asked if anyone still listens to KRTH on weekends. I said "no" and gave my reasons. And my name is Steve. You confused me with Mister Fybush, who puts out those nice calendars with pictures of radio towers and transmitters. He also moderates a radio discussion site somewhere.

Speaking of "fun radio," does anyone remember 1967-68 when 1580 KDAY was top-40? They called their survey the Fun 40 and had a pretty large playlist. DJs included Joe Terry, Tom Clay and Hal Pickens. Going even farther back, does anyone remember in 1960 when comedians Jack Burns and George Carlin hosted the KDAY morning show? They called themselves the Wright Brothers---don't ask me why!

You would get a lot less pushback on this board if you would agree to only post KMR-approved opinions.

Tom Clay, what a weirdo, "I don't like you, I love you".

About the Wright, Brothers!

The Stooges are the Wrong brothers (a parody of the Wright brothers), a trio of aviators who are drafted into the army, but end up getting a 30-day deferment of duty on account of their claims that the plane they are inventing, the “Buzzard”, will revolutionize flying. The boys get to work, but a series of mishaps cause them to get sidetracked; Moe twice gets knocked into a tub of rubber cement. The first time it happens, Larry and Curly try to get the rubber off Moe by expanding the rubber with hydrogen. Unfortunately, Moe floats to the top of the airplane hangar and into the sky, and Larry and Curly take aim with a shotgun and blast him to safety, resulting in Moe falling down a nearby well.

Off-topic again, are we? Dizzy Pilots is my second-favorite Three Stooges short. The 1943 film included footage from their 1940 short Boobs In Arms---a cheap way to complete another film. ("Whadda you think you're doin', playin' Hippity-Hop at the Barber Shop?") My favorite Stooges short is Three Little Beers, in which they take a truckload of beer in barrels to a country club and then decide to stay and play a game. "What do ya do here?" "Ya shoot golf." "Oh, hunting!" The Stooges destroy the golf course and all the beer barrels roll down the street. Roll your mouse across the photo at http://www.bradhallart.com/bradflix/echo_park.html and you'll see that the Echo Park intersection still looks much the same as it did in that 1935 film.

You know when Curly carries that block of ice up those stairs and it turns into an ice cube. Well those Stairs are still there near east L.A! I met Moe at KCSN and he gave me his home phone number, even spoke with his wife. While Moe did not do mornings at K-EARTH 101 he sure was a neat guy, even signed a napkin for me that my sister threw away!
