Larry Elder - released from KABC yesterday (12/2/14)

John Boyle and Jeff Carroll hosted a talk show on KLSX from 1998 to 2009. The John & Jeff Show was also heard in syndication and via podcasts. They have occasionally filled in on KABC. Well, as of today, December 8, they're ba-a-a-ack. They're doing the afternoon show...but will they become permanent? Stay tuned.

Considering iHeart is looking to scale back their workforce 33%, as detailed by Jerry Del Colliano in the past week.

And you really believe that?

David, I could ask "Who ever heard of a big broadcasting company laying off a lot of employees just before Christmas?" but you would just think I'm being sarcastic. :)

Just bring back Marc Germain. He can does his show from Vegas

In his radio column today, Richard Wagoner wonders if Larry Elder might wind up on KEIB. He would be a good complement to Rush Limbaugh and would certainly help the ratings, but who will replace Elder on KABC's afternoon show? Tom Leykis does not want the job. Joe Crummey is a possibility but whoever takes over will often be pre-empted by Kings hockey. And apparently KABC made an offer to KFI's John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou. John and Ken were on KABC in 1999-2000 and that didn't work out. Of course they were on in mornings, not afternoons. I can't see them ever again leaving KFI.

John & Ken were probably laughing so hard during that phone call.
What could Cumulus have possibly pitched to them?

"Hey guys, come to work for us at KABC for much less pay on a ratings cellar dwelling station with a challenged signal and drowning in debt."

KABC should concentrate more on reanimating Paul Harvey's corpse than landing J&K because the former has a much greater potential of actually occurring even if wildly unlikely.

Looks like Larry Elder's internet show is hitting new lows, with the guest appearance of the infamous Woody Nelson - masquerading here as "Roger Miller" to promote his anti-Obama website.

Go away, Woody.

Then comes the obvious question? What happens to midday live wich i think is a good show? I think it is funny to hear gloria alred as a guest sometimes on a station she use to work at. I liked the show alred and taylor she use to cohost.

You are delusional if you think that as you claim, Obama bashing has never been more popular, considering that this last election saw one of the lowest voter turnouts in the history of this country. In other words, only the hate filled mentally ill voted for the most part. Also, a bit of research would show you that conservative talk radio is indeed on the decline with the exception of some areas of the country which are considered conservative strongholds. Also, I’ve never understood the need that conservatives have to work themselves up to the point of orgasm while some one is actively pushing their anger buttons via radio, TV or any other media for that matter. I often wonder why kabc doesn’t go in the direction of a more general interest type of talk programming instead of jumping on the angry hate filled conservative band wagon, but then I remember who owns kabc.
Actually, "Obama Bashing" has never been more popular. The last bash was on November 4th and it was quite the doosie.

KABC's new 9-to-noon host is Cristina Perez, who has hosted the tv shows Cristina's Court, La Corte De Familia and Justice For All.. Jillian Barberie and John Phillips have moved to the 3-to-6 pm slot. Larry Elder has launched an Internet-only talk show, streaming live from 3 to 6 pm (of course!) Monday through Friday at http://www.larryelder.com/ and anyone who pays for a premium "Elderado" subscription will get a DVD of Elder's Michael & Me documentary plus access to commercial-free podcasts.
