Christ-Mix 96.1

Any surprise they went wall to wall Christmas?

The Christmas Count:
- Fish 103.9 - All Christmas
- Mix 96 - All Christmas

Remind me, last season Mix 96 was NOT all Christmas? Right?

I don't listen to either station, the wife does in the car sometimes. Seems like Mix 96 has done wall to wall in the past years. I worked for them in the 90's, they used to slowly mix in Xmas music, one every set, then one/normal song alternating, then all Xmas near the 24th. But that was a long time ago!

Mix was all Christmas last year too. As was 93.1 before it became KFBK. This year, K-Hits (101.5) seems to be heavy on the Christmas music...maybe 40% Christmas/60% classic hits.

I think 93.1 was the only full-time Christmas (not counting Salem etc.) format prior to pulling the music plug to simulcast KFBK to alleviate 92.5 going country.
Gotta wonder with the economy in the tank and retail advertising at an all time low if the Christmas format is as profitable as it once was. Recalling the Christmas format race amongst the larger group owners across major markets. Thoughts?

If I recall correctly, KGBY went all-Christmas for a few years prior to 93.1 signing on. I think this is the first (maybe 2nd) year Mix 96 has done it 24/7 now that 93.1 is talk.

Mix went Christmas last few years, yes

Mix 96 has been Christmas for the last several years. When KHLX was on the air, there were 3 all-Christmas stations in Sacramento. KHLX, KYMX, KKFS.

I was working for KGBY (back in the Y92.5 days) and you're correct, they were the home for Christmas prior to 93.1 signing on.

In fact I remember a day (in recent past prior to 103.9 being in Sacto) where Y92.5 and Mix 96 would compete for Christmas listeners.
