Kudos To Howie Carr

Omnibus

Kudos ... okay kudi for you Greek elite... to Howie Carr for giving Doug Goudie, aka, VB, exposure on his show after his Fox 25 contract was not renewed. Nice to see him support his former producer. Speaks well for Howie. Many talk hosts would not bother.

They're hilarious together and take note VB is better at crooning Beatles tunes than Howie though he was wrong: Lucy in the Sky IS on Sgt Pepper. And thank you, Omnibus!

It's nice when Howie drops his uncompromising if not cynical veneer. Perhaps, this is the real Howie. BTW, does Howie or his staff ever read these posts?

Howie has added WBSM 1420 New Bedford (...who just got rid of their longtime morning man)
Background noises on Howie's WMEX feed right now...

WMRE had better reception ...and better talent..... ;-)

Yes--the bostonradio.org profile of 1510 (it still says WWZN there) said the current Waltham site was built in '81, before the mid 80s days as talk w/ Morgan etc. It said they may have been better off doing 5k under the old Quincy site, as what they have now is very directional.
As for Howie and his attempts to go national we can say for quite some time he has been international, as the signals for two of his affiliates reach parts of Canada:
WVMT Burlington VT and WEGP Presque Isle ME. Once I was in Montreal walking in Vieux Montreal and my Walkman was tuned to him on 620 WVMT.

Howie's international just like I'm a global author because one time I updated my website from Costa Rica and someone In Canada read it.

That's beyond a stretch.

Yup I was kidding tho, "you could claim that..." he's international just like he does have ONE affiliate outside New England (a tiny one)

btw on FB etc we are reminded David Brudnoy passed away 10 yrs ago today

How about Tony Pepper who did mid day and Bob Katzen who did late night as well as Morgan. Dana just did voice overs and was not a regular on air talent but he still asked for" another chair for his ego"...with thanks to Dick Cavett's put down of Norman Mailer...
Good grief....you ARE a Debbie downer aren't you?

Same signal as WMRE.

Better talent? Bob Gamere? Johnny Towne? Morgan White? Dana Hersey?

WCAP 980 Lowell adds Howie Jan 1
via Howie tweet

Not a surprise, will be interesting to see what happens to the WCVB news simulcast?

The Big Show Unplugged wasn't able to pay the bill?

The funny thing is when they Moved Ryan Johnston to mid days after Jack Baldwin had to take a medical leave after a serious car crash ( I understand Jack is home but still doing out patient physical therapy and has a long road ahead of him) I asked someone I know up there if that was in preparation for Howie, and he told me no it was for The Big Show Unplugged, but they would be interested in Howie.....

WCAP does a lot of Lowell Spinners games, and U Mass Lowell Sports, going to be interesting how Col. Sam deals with that.

Howie says they will run him 3-6 pm.Also
Mark W told boston-radio interest that
CAP is working off a backup 1 kW
xmtr for now, normally 5 kW.
Howie got the 980 freq right most
of the time but said 890 once
and 970 once.

Howie's column today says his show airs on "five, soon to be seven stations in Mass."

OK WMEX Boston, WCRN Worcester, WXTK Cape Cod, WHYN Holyoke and the just added WBSM New Bedford.
WCAP Lowell is aboard on New Yr's Day...who's the seventh...?
