Recognizable Seattle face returns to the Pacific Northwest

...But not in Seattle.

Remember Monty Webb? He was a meteorologist at KIRO years ago (when Andy Wappler was chief) and then he moved off to WHAS in KY for quite a few years. He just came back a few weeks ago to the Tri-Cities and now is an anchor/meteorologist at KNDO/KNDU in the mornings with Meredith Boggs. I can live outside of Seattle, but it seems like I'll never be outside of former memories. I remember watching Monty around the time we had that big windstorm in Seattle, which is coming up on the 8-year anniversary!
p.s. Speaking of that windstorm, we lost power for 2 minutes in the night - because our power was underground. The next morning we had power and 1 million others didn't! No cable service, it was knocked out, so we had to resort to the coverage on our late 1980s RCA analog.

How was your DTV reception over there? The wind sure makes the reception useless on THIS side! >.<

We lost power for about 4 hours yesterday and I would assume the KOIN tower lost power for about half an hour or so, as KXL went off for a bit then came back on probably on backup generator, only to go off again about half an hour later briefly.

Monty has really bounced around throughout his career. I'm not really sure why he's been unable to land at a station and stay long term, anywhere. He's pretty good, overall, but, to me, just isn't chief meteorologist quality.

He first worked at KIRO in the 1990s, doing weekends for about four years (I think Andy Wappler replaced Larry Rice in the mornings about 1994, Rice left the station, opening up a weekend slot that Monty Webb filled). Monty left KIRO in 1998 to go to WBBM in Chicago, where he did mornings from 1998-2002. Left WBBM, and came back to KCPQ replacing Henry Webrink (Henry DiCarlo - who left for Los Angeles) as the Chief Met. Did that for a couple of years, then KCPQ let him go in favor of Walter Kelley. Back to KIRO, where he did weekends until 2008 when he left for the Chief job in Nashville. Six years in Nashville, that might be his longest stop, anywhere.

Tri-Cities seems like a step down.

Louisville, not Nashville. He worked at WHAS-TV (ch 11 ABC).
