3/5 Merger FAIL

I like the show "Elementary." I knew it was not on tonight, because my DVR indicated that the Cards game was on instead. I happened to be perusing AOL's homepage, where I saw a local story about a program change on 3TV. This informed me that 3 and 5 had essentially switched lineups for the night, and that the general public are just supposed to be mindreaders. I guarantee several thousand people will miss new episodes of some very popular shows, which include "The Big Bang Theory" and "Two and a Half Men." (Also "Mom," "The McCarthy's," and as I stated previously, "Elementary.")

This is a huge FAIL. You just can't switch stations and think that your viewers are going to know. Seriously?!

I was surprised when I turned on my TV (powers on to 3TV) and saw the CBS Primetime lineup. I knew Cards v. Rams would be on KPHO. I hardly ever watch CBS5. Was there some type of notice that programming would move to 3TV?

Change 1: CBS 5 is running a scroll saying their Primetime lineup can be seen on KTVK Channel 3

It doesn't matter that there was a scroll during the game, or an announcement during the news. KTVK is not listed as an affiliate on CBS.com, and when I emailed KPHO, I received an apologetic reply from the GM this morning that I most certainly wasn't the only viewer who felt this way.
It's OK...I know now, and I'll get to snicker when the Cards lose in the playoffs. ;-)

There was a scroll during CBS Wednesday nite shows announcing the shift on Thursday nite. Unfortunately didn't see it in time since we DVR everything and watch a day later.
The DTV dvr did'nt catch this either, but it may not be smrt enough to do so.
(There was another angry post by a fellow AZ'an on the "Elementary" forum on another site.)

This was the first time KTVK was used in this capacity. I also think this was the first time quite a few people became aware of the new cross-ownership between the two stations. (Though KPHO is now promoting KTVK's 9pm newscast.)

A DVR can't be expected to catch a move to another station like that because it's set to record the program on channel X, not channel Y.

I can set my DVR to record a show on "All Stations," but I had no reason to do that with Elementary, because it's only on KPHO...or so I thought. ;-)
