Kaley O'Kelley Leaving

I alluded to this in the April Warnecke thread. FTVLive reported last week that Kaley is leaving KTVK to become a primary evening anchor at KTVT in Dallas/Ft Worth. It's a huge loss for GMAZ and the fallout from the Meredith acquisition continues...

Perhaps Tara will re-appear, since she had been doing weekly segments for KPHO.
 
I checked various 3TV Twitter and Facebook posts and didn't see anything about this. If true, a double shock to KTVK: losing the primary women in daytime and nighttime news.

Has anyone heard or read anything further about this?

Kaley was out for several days, and they had Gina Maravilla filling in. Gina works well with Scott, and actually
anchored the weekend morning show several years ago before she had gone on maternity leave, and then never returned.

They could get that traffic guy from Channel 15 who just left to replace Gina on the traffic desk.

They've had Jill Galus do the weekend show with ryan O'Donnell a couple of times. She's not bad, and there
seems to be better chemistry between them. Watching Tess and Ryan is painful sometimes. Some people say they've
got chemistry, but IMHO they always seem uncorfortable together.

I think Gina would be a great replacement if Kaley leaves.

Ryan and Tess are good together.
 
@unregistered100, Gina was also the weekday morning anchor on CBS 5 for a couple of years with John Overall.

Gina seems to be getting better everyday with Scott, even though she's essentially doing double duty. But I haven't heard anything more about Kaley.

Ryan and Tess are okay, but I'm still not a huge Ryan fan. It's hard to find someone who wants to do weekend mornings for a long period of time. Most want to "move up" in their careers. At least, Ryan and Tess seem to like it.

Gina also worked with Mike Chamberlain. She went on maternity leave and never came back. That's why I stopped watching KPHO.

Thanks. Forgot completely about Overall and Mike Chamberlain. As I recall, Chamberlain did the sports, and was a musician on the side.
That music gig became his main gig.

Meanwhile, any further info about Kaley? Gina is still "subbing" for her as of this am.

And Jaime continues to do a nice job post-Carey.

Since Former first started this topic, Kaley has been off GMAZ more than on. While Gina said she was "in for Kaley" today, I noticed when they have their 'what's coming on tomorrow' commercials, they no longer show the picture of Kaley, Gina, Scott, April and Javier, only a generic 3TV graphic. That doesn't bold well.

However, checked Facebook, Twitter and AZFamily.com and not a peep on Kaley leaving.

Congrats to Kaley! I will miss her deeply! I'm sure she'll do great things at CBS11. Slowly but surely the team at 3TV will dwindle.

It seems odd to hire a 4th meteorologist. There's a need for 14 meteorological shifts to be covered each week. Between Royal, April & Kim they can cover 15. With the addition of Rich, now they can cover 20. Is it possible a meteorologist will be making the move to sitting in the anchor chair?
 
Jetta is on 15 now. She has been subbing on the evening newscasts and has good chemistry with Steve Irvin. Perhaps she could permanently replace Katie Raml. Who imho is not that good.
 
I haven't seen her with Steve, but I've seen her subbing for Steve with Stephanie Hockridge, and I'm sorry, but she is not up-to-par with any of those anchors. She's too slow, her pronunciation is completely off, and she talks too much.
 
Noticed that Kaley's bio was removed right after Christmas.
Gina has been in Kaley's spot for over a week now. hope they make that permanent.
 
Since Kaley left, Gina has basically been in the spot. With the exception of a few days over the last 3 or 4 weeks.
Then Tess has filled in. But today, Tess was in, and so was Gina. But Gina doing traffic only. Odd.

I think Gina has been doing fine. I hope they give her the spot permanently.

Anyone have any insight on this? thnx.
