APPLE 107.1, INC. is selling the construction permit for W292DV/NEW YORK to BIG APPLE BROADCASTING, LLC for $3.5 million. The buyer is headed by JOHN BRIDGE, the same principal whose WINDY CITY BROADCASTING, LLC bought W280EM/CHICAGO for $1 million which is soon set to launch as Urban Jazz "The Groove".

Thoughts..

And Disney is selling their AMs for less than this little FM signal...who'd thunk??

Go figure

(actually ridiculous)

The FCC had held up the sale for a few months due to objections from Press Communications, owner of WKMK 106.3 FM (Thunder Country). This week, they authorized the $3.5 million transaction. According to the FCC decision, Press had expressed concern that the new owner would attempt to move the translator, currently broadcasting 4 watts from the Citi tower in Long island City, back to Times Square and run 99 watts once again. The decision indicated that Press offered nothing to confirm this would actually occur, and upheld their right to object if such a move were to happen, and cause interference to Thunder Country.
So the current relay of Radio Cantico Nuevo by the translator may be coming to an end. It will be interesting to see what the new owner will do with this signal to make it worth such a handsome price.
