KTXD changes

Noticed today that The Broadcast is now down to 1 hour at 10am and a repeat at 4pm. Also, the Mark Davis simulcast is gone. Looking back it appears these changes took place several weeks ago. This is the worst-run TV station I have ever seen. They change programming constantly and people can't figure what they are airing and when. It is just a sad joke for a station I had thought might be a nice alternative.

They have new owners? I know Gannett bought all of London's stations except KTXD and KCEB (Longview). Did someone now buy KTXD?

London still owns KTXD. However, there is widespread speculation that Gannett will buy it in 2015 so it can have a duopoly with WFAA. The only reason KTXD and KCEB were not included in the 2014 sale of the other London Broadcasting stations was due to balancing out tax liabilities from the sale of KMOV in St. Louis and other shenanigans involving Gannett's Sander Media shell (puppet) operation.

London is basically a private equity group--they have no specific interest in running TV stations or keeping only KTXD and KCEB. Once we're in the new tax year the road will be clear for Gannett's purchase of KTXD and possibly KCEB.

Gannett is almost certainly on the prowl for duopoly partners for KHOU in Houston and KENS in San Antonio.

Yes, and it wouldn't be at all surprising for Gannett to acquire KIAH CW39 in the short term.

That is interesting. I wonder if WFAA would program KTXD like they used to program KFWD? That was at least decent oldies programming. What they have now is kind of a mess with an unpredictable schedule.

I wouldn't expect that. If they were gonna buy KIAH, they'd probably try to get KIAH and KDAF together and immediately have duopolies in both markets.

However, San Antonio doesn't have any Tribune-owned stations. If Gannett wanted to have KENS to have a sister station, it would probably want KCWX back again like the old KBEJ (UPN) station during its Belo days, or settle the score with Sinclair and acquire KMYS.
