I forgot. There's also Velocity, Universal, and Palledia. (Sp?)

That isn't bad at all if you can get all those with the adapter every Cox customer now needs. Almost as good having a digital cable box/dvr

I'm assuming you were already subscribed to expanded basic service with them? We've had a similar converter thing with Com-crap since about a year ago August. I only have limited basic, however. Among the few non-antenna stations we get are public access and NECN. Yes, we get QVC and HSN...but those are technically available via WHPX-TV channel 26-5 and 26-6 with an indoor antenna.

An extra 21 channels. I'm happy to now get GSN, OWN (For the Undercover Boss Reruns), Fox Sports 1 (I missed several New York Yankees games this past summer because they were only on FOX Sports 1), and FX2.

Palladia is an MTV channel showing mostly live concerts, if that's what you're talking about. It's an upper tier channel so I'm surprised you're getting it on an economy package, unless Cox doesn't realize it's available to you. Actually, Velocity and Universal are also usually upper tier channels.

And it is unfortunate that people who had been getting the basic broadcast channels on most cable systems for an inexpensive rate will soon have to pay $1 or more per month for a cable box. A friend of mine who has basic broadcast Time Warner may decide to cancel his service now that they're making him pay that extra fee.

From COX.COM it seems like we have the COX Essentials package and that includes Velocity, Universal, and Palladia. I don't think we're supposed to be getting MUSIC CHOICE. Also unless they programmed the mini boxes to receive the HD channels on the same number as the analog channels, we don't get the HD channels.

Music Choice is available to just about everyone now. Palladia is awesome btw, it was originally called Music: High Definition (MHD). After MTV went HD they renamed it Palladia.

So far those mini boxes seem to be an epic fail. We got ours on December 13th and one month later we started having problems. We have 3 - one on the TV in the family room, one on the TV in the office, and one on the TV in my Mom's bedroom.

On January 13th the one in the family room and the one in the office lost Spike TV (27), Animal Planet (60), and National Geographic (83). On all 3 channels was an error message and to call COX Customer Service. These channels were fine with the mini box on the TV in my Mom's bedroom. 2 days later the problem fixed itself. Then a day or 2 later the one hooked up on the TV in the office went haywire again. This time a whole bunch of stations went down. We were only getting 2-12, 14-18, 20, 31, a few in the 60s and 70s, and the sub channels which are up in the 800 range. After a day it corrected itself. It should be note that the regular advice people are told of resetting the box by unplugging it and waiting a few minutes and plugging it back in, did not work in these cases.

Then there are quite a few not so bright people living in rich and stuck-up Southington. Quite a number of people who had regular big boxes had them replaced with the mini boxes, which they did not need to do. *Face-palm* On top of that they were complaining that ON-DEMAND and their DVRs weren't working with the mini-boxes. The mini-boxes don't have those features. *Face-palm*

Alternative to renting box from ripoff cox.

It's bad enough you have to get channels you never watch in order to get what you do watch, the prices are out of control and now in order to watch what i pay for they want $1.99 plus tx per month per tv. I have 2 cable ready tv so it would cost me another $50 a year for the boxes.

Is there somewhere to buy a box, cox tried telling me i had to rent the modem for the internet or buy it from them for $130 +but i bought one direct for $35 on ebay. So is it possible to buy a mini box also. I do not care about hbo, sho, cinemax etc just want what i already pay for.
