WBWL upgrade (and WWBB/WCIB downgrades)

Any word as to when the switch might be flipped?
Just saw on NECRAT that the new antennas for WWBB and WCIB were installed at the end of November.

I understand from a (at least) second hand source that the downtown Providence site for WWBB is a bust due to RF overload in electronic devices in the building. They just licensed an Aux antenna for WWBB at the East Providence WHJY transmitter site, and are now considering using that as the main. Available building space is an issue.

Assuming your second-hand source is reliable and accurate: my, my, my; I thought this move of the millenium was so well planned and thought out by the "experts" at iHateCC that this was a done deal. Gee, I'm all broken up that it hit a glitch.

I read on one of these boards that the 'HJY tower could not support the directional antenna for WWBB, otherwise it would've been considered in the first place. I know: perhaps they should return to their original spot on The Hill in Johnston on 'PRO-FM's tower.

And all this for what? It's not like The beantown Bull is really making a killing in the ratings that it deserves all this kerfuffle.

Seems like just about everything iHateCC touches of late has turned out badly for them; to wit, buying WOR: their ratings fall. Moving Rush off of KFI onto an unknown LA AM station in the noise, ratings-wise.

Isn't that the intent of upgrading 101.7 - its success is limited by its signal? Now, if post-upgrades/downgrades, the Bull is not making a "kerfuffle", then you have a point :).

The Bull needs a lot of help...not sure a signal upgrade will cure its woes

What are some of The Bull's shortcomings other than their signal? As a former country jock/programmer, I'd be interested to read what some of you think. My last gig in country ended in 2000 (WCAV), so I realize the landscape has changed.

I never really cared much for WFNX, during all of the years it was around. I have had
occasion to listen to the Bull incarnation. Not a big country fan, but I kinda like it!

I feel that the bull has an opportunity to provide area listeners with something special...but it's just not there yet. The imaging is bland. Syndicated shows, minus seacrest, rarely do well, so the morning show is a miss. The midday guy is fairly good. The afternoon show, I have to admit, I haven't listened to all that much. After the commercial free summer, I (and it seems like others) just haven't been drawn back in, yet.

The Bull

I think to be the most competitive with WKLB, they must have a morning show that is heavy on continuous music.
