Another one "forgets" to sign off.

WVLZ, Knoxville, TN with 60s oldies. I matched against their stream just after 8pm CST (0200 GMT) Sunday night locally. No TOH ID or liners, imaging, etc. Just music. Fair signal with WHAM nulled. (WHAM had the better signal, but was easily nulled). SRF37 Walkman.

According to Radio-Locator, this is supposed to be a daytimer. 10kw Non-directional. 2.6kw critical hours.

Somebody forget to flip a switch? Did any of you other guys hear this?

KRCO-690 Prineville OR forgot to sign off as well - with Trailblazers basketball.
790 KSPD Boise as well - heard a Billy Graham program earlier this evening and they are supposed to be around 60 watts. This sounded like full 1KW to me.

KRCO is now a 24 hour operation with 77 watts at night.

WVLZ is one of my locals and it's been blasting 24/7 for a couple of months. Format is oldies with a few brokered sports talk shows from the defunct Tennessee Sports Radio. They have a sister 1kWer on 1120 which is currently off the air and has been for most of the last 2 years.

Thanks for jumping in. I presumed you'd know what the skinny was here, including how long this had been going on. I hadn't been DXing all that much from my home location for the last couple of months due to an in-home noise source that I finally was able to identify and eliminate a couple of days ago.

Heard WVLS on what I assume was their CH power at 5:15PM this evening. Moderate to no signal, and fighting it out with WHAM.

6:30PM here, 12-2-14, NE PA.
Figures -- the BOH -- bottom of the hour :- )

I've heard 'Tighten Up' by Archie Bell and the Drells, and 'Walk Like A Man' by the Four seasons. But 1180 is a real mess here tonight. Mixing in are what sounds like two Spanish stations -- there's an echo. There might be some Auroral conditions.

Any which way : I can't hear WHAM !

I kind of assumed they were running the full 10k 24/7 but I'm too close to tell. I suppose they could be running just the CH.
I've heard auroral conditions are happening, haven't checked for myself.

Or DOZENS of Spanish stations! Cuba has a Rebelde transmitter in every town on 1180. Recently, they changed the method of feeding then from analog landline or microwave, to something else (I suspect Internet streaming), with the result that the audio is not synchronized between one repeater and another.

I'm guessing its the full 10kw. WHAM's signal here northwest of Chicago is better, but WVLZ has been fairly reliable with WHAM nulled. WSQR....with ONE watt 25 miles away from me...doesn't have a prayer!

Update: New management has taken over 1180 in Knoxville and it is signing off on time (5:30pm EST in December). By 1/5, the oldies format will be gone and the station will return to sports talk. Sister 1120 is trying to get back on the air with a Music of Your Life type format.

I've still been hearing stuff under WHAM during the last few nights, but not oldies. I can't really make out what it is, but I assume Cuba.

I was just thinking about 940 AM after discussing WINZ in another thread, and remembered that several times I have heard WCIT Lima, OH on 940 AM at night. It's a strange enough frequency around here at night, with 5k KPSZ Des Moines sometimes failing to make it 120 miles east (it's heavily directional, in the other direction), but CJGX from Yorkton, Saskatchewan showing up instead. But back to WCIT -- it's apparently licensed for 6 watts at night. Yeah, they might not be powering down, but on the other hand, their daytime power is supposed to be 250 watts. It's upwards of 400 miles away.
