NBC Programming Coming to Jonesboro

And this is of national television importance because...?

Because there isn't a Jonesboro forum.
It belongs in the National TV forum.

Isn't this evidence that there should be a Jonesboro TV forum? Or at least a forum for the state Jonesboro is in? Or at least making the various local radio forums mixed "broadcasting" forums to cover both radio and TV?

After all, the next logical question to follow the answer "Because there isn't a Jonesboro forum" would be, "Why isn't there one?", right?

And, in the interest of total honesty, I wouldn't have posted what I did if the post hadn't been launched by someone who seems to be a professional thread launcher, interested in sheer quantity instead of any attempt at quality.

Looks like the low-power translator that was going to launch NBC is done for then. Good for Jonesboro, though I'm beginning to tire of these no-effort Big Four subchannels which basically exist to claim 'dibs' from larger city affiliates without the news programming to back them up.

I wonder if that's part of what is keeping WNBJ NBC 39 off of Charter cable in Jackson, TN. I'd like to see Charter carry them, but not if it means dropping WMC 5 in Memphis.

well lets see. Under "National Television" it CLEARLY says

For discussion of television anywhere in the United States.

I don't understand why you have to be such an ass about it (threadcrapping in every thread)

WNBJ is the local NBC for Jackson. WMC can claim "significant view" to probably stay on Charter. But isnt WNBJ on all the other options there (D*, E* and JEA)? So it sounds liek a Charter issue

That's what makes it all so confusing. The subtitle says one thing, but the name of the forum says something different. Either one is wrong, or the other one is. I mean, how can two things that say the opposite of each other both be right?

Ah... so your complaint is that it would make more sense to have a "Coast to Coast TV" forum, to be the catch all for markets that are not represented, and the National TV be for TV that is seen Nationally?

That is in the works... promise.

As you were posting this, I posted something in the forum discussions forum on this topic.

They're on Dish and JEA. They're supposed to be coming to DirecTV, but aren't on yet. I don't doubt that it's an issue with Charter and they're in no hurry to put WNBJ on though.

Similar situation seems to exist in the Bowling Green area. All the major networks are represented there, but it seems that only the ABC affiliate has any local news there. We have been able to watch our "own" channel 5 from here in Nashville for news while we are staying there.

It's about advertising revenue. The KAIT case is more of "we're already the de facto NBC affiliate, and we know you like your news, but here we can sell our own local ad time".

KAIT and WMC are both owned by Raycom, so the NBC subchannel carrying WMC's news makes sense. WNBJ needs to make a deal with some major station from Memphis or Nashville to carry their news.

Residents in northeast Arkansas and southeast Missouri are now able to watch programming from a second television channel affiliated with KAIT.

KAIT, Region 8's ABC affiliate, started broadcasting NBC programming to residents in the Region 8 News coverage area early Monday morning. NBC Region 8 can be seen over the air on 8.2 and on cable and satellite providers.

You can contact your TV provider to find NBC Region 8 (KAIT 8.2) on your cable or satellite system

And it's in HD too, says RabbitEars.

Yet it hasn't shown up on Zap2it's listings for Suddenlink Jonesboro.

Is it being picked up by the cable systems there? When WBBJ in Jackson started their CBS/Me TV subchannel it was picked up quickly by Charter. On the other hand they still don't have WNBJ yet.
