Magic has gone Christmas!

Magic is playing Christmas music and their website is saying "bostons Christmas station"

And they've taken Christmas music off the HD2, and replaced it with the usual Magic music, sans announcers. Still hoping the smooth jazz comes back to the HD2 once Christmas is over.

They are doing a decent job.
All the health care provider ads are becoming very annoying, but the music is pretty good.

I was hoping WMJX-HD2 would go back to Smooth Jazz programming after Xmas passed, but I just checked and heard the ID "WMJX-HD2 Boston's Christmas Station...ALL YEAR ROUND" Are they really going to be playing Jingle Bells on the 4th of July??

Don't forget, WODS used to stream Christmas music all year long on its website before its flip to CHR. Maybe there's an audience out there for year-round ho-ho-ho on HD as well. (Yeah, I know, an audience of 20 or 30 ... cue the anti-HD snark.)

HD - where good reception is Highly Doubtful.

Is anyone still playing xmas rotation (non-HD).

It is certainly permissible to mix in a Christmas tune every so often even after December 25. For most Christian denominations, the "Christmas season" extends till January 6, the Feast of The Epiphany (as in "We Three Kings of Orient Are"). I always thought it was dumb when in-the-dark programmers just killed all Christmas music at 12:01 AM December 26.

Why not play all the cold weather songs that have nothing to do with Christmas (Jingle Bells, Winter Wonderland, Sleigh Ride, Frosty the Snowman, etc.) right through the end of February, then?

Not a bad idea, except that by the end of February, despite our living in New England, many people have HAD it with winter. But I could see doing so until mid-January; not much beyond that, though.

I have already started to notice the once-noble Christmas
trees piled up next to the dumpsters. Nothing is as old as
yesterday's news...
