Dave and Lap

Oops, screwed up the title of the post! Congrats to Dan and Lap for another year of solid Bengals game calls on WLW. Except for his potty mouth Lap is a tremendous color analyst with a deep Bengals history. I'm sure they're as tired as I am of not having a Bengasl playoff win since the invention of the tire iron. And finally, congratulations to Marvin Lewis for being Cincy's low rent version of Bud Grant.

I love Lap! To me, he is the Joe Nuxhall of broadcasting football. I feel lucky to have heard his analysis over the years. But I will say I enjoyed him much more with Brad Johannson (sp?). I am not a big fan of Mr. Hoard at all. He misses a lot of calls (that Lap covers for him), gets info wrong, and (the worst) tries to big-time people both on the phone and in person. Maybe just an ego thing, although I don't know why he would think he should have one.

I can't speak to how Dan Hoard is in person or on the phone, but to say Lap covers for him on the broadcasts is a stretch. Lap walks all over Hoard's call every chance he gets because he can't stop screaming or wait until after a play to elaborate on the play Hoard just called, or was supposed to have called because he got talked over for half of the play. I have been a Bengals fan for over 25 years and Lap's schtick has just worn thin on me. I wish he could be the color guy on Bengals games that he is for his Big 12 broadcasts.
