No more weather on KVUE 24.3?

Did KVUE drop weather on 24.3? I tried to look at the weather when the storms were moving through last night. It said on the bottom go to kvue.com for weather. I have my computer and internet turned off when storms are coming through, and with it late at night I didn't want to go to my phone. I thought the FCC requires at least one TV station to have weather service on their sub channels? None are in Austin now.

KVUE owner Gannett has committed to carrying the new Justice Network as a subchannel on most of its stations, so perhaps that is what will replace weather on 24.3 instead of launching a 24.4.

No such thing as a weather subchannel requirement, as far as I know. Haven't had one in Houston since Accuweather disappeared from KTRK 13.3, although the impending demise of Live Well Network might change that.

Probably not much need for weather subchannels considering the availability of such info on computers and smartphones.

I would hope KVUE would re launch the Accuweather back on 24.4. I'm glad KENS still has the radar on 5.3. I was able to see where the storms were then. I'm glad KAVU also still has accuweather on 25.4.

I'm glad KENS still has the radar on 5.3.

KENS is also owned by Gannett, so it will probably carry Justice Network on a subchannel. Anyone's guess as to whether they'll add a 5.4 or replace the weather on 5.3.

No word on exactly when Justice Network will launch or where it can be found, other that the original announcements which referred to "January." The website http://www.justicenetworktv.com/ has very little info.

Gannett has also added WeatherNation TV as a subchannel in some of its markets, so that could also be a future possibility.

So, is Bounce getting "bounced" from KHOU 11.2? They, too, are now owned by Gannett. What a shame, I like Bounce and it will likely be relegated to a station with significant lower power.

LiveWell is still chugging along on KTRK 13.2 and 13.3, and I have noticed a significant increase in paid programming since the 1st. Sign of things to come, perhaps?

Looks like the weather on 24.3 is gone for good: http://tvradio.blog.austin360.com/2015/01/06/kvue-dropping-24-hour-weather-channel/

Still nothing about a launch date on Justice Network's website, Facebook or Twitter. RabbitEars.info shows WFAA in DFW will have it on 8.3. Would assume other Gannett stations in Texas would carry it, but no further info...some of them already have a full load of subchannels. Curious if KHOU will add an 11.3 in order to carry the channel.

Didn't KXAN use to have a radar sweep on 36.2? Why can't they launch a weather channel.

They might as well get rid of local TV then if they think that. Local news can be found online facebook ETC.

Update: Justice Network will be carried on KENS 5.3, so the weather will be gone. Also KHOU is launching an 11.3 to carry the channel.

Map here: http://www.justicenetworktv.com/find-justice/

The Gannett stations in DFW, Houston, Austin, and SA are the only ones carrying Justice Network in Texas for now. Most of the other Gannett stations in the state have a full load of subchannels, so something may get bumped from those in the future.

That's no good! Why do they tell you turn off computers and equipment during storms but now they are dropping weather information and now saying to go to your computer to get weather info? I guess I'll just half to rely on Direct TV's Texas radar map unless it goes out during heavy rain. :(

Well weather is no more on KENS or KVUE :( I guess I'll just use Direct TV's weather info when I really need to see what's going on without checking my phone or computer which if bad weather is around I have my internet unhooked.

I found it sooo totally funny when a local power company started promoting a new feature on their web site...."Find out outages in your area and estimated time for repair".....HMMMM if the power is out and I have NO UPS on anything (which 99% of residential folks do not!!!), how the he** am I gonna get to the web site?????? DUH!!

After a month or more, they finally changed it to "Our new APP for your smart phone!!" however, during Rita, the cell sites were down a lot because they had no backup gen sets....gotta love it.....smh

The main reason why I really watch local TV is to check local weather. I'm glad Direct TV has a weather button. I was able to check on the rain today before I headed out of town for work.

They should make it to where every city should require at least one weather channel in the HD sub channels for public safety reasons!
