More on James Crystal's financial issues

From Tom Taylor:

Bankruptcy helps - at least it helps trim the FCC fine owed by James Crystal Enterprises at its Christian teaching/gospel KBXD in Dallas (1480). The February 20 NOW carried the story about the $9,000 fine assessed due to non-working EAS (Emergency Alert System) equipment. But JCE pleaded that when the FCC agent visited, KBXD was at the construction permit stage of operation – and also that its parent company was in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings and that “payment would impose a dire economic burden that it may not be able to recover from.” The FCC does reduce the fine from $9,000 to $7,200 – but that’s as far as it’s willing to go. The February 20 story also told you that JCE at that time owed the FCC $89,940 for various regulatory filings. Yesterday’s reduction in fine is http://transition.fcc.gov/Daily_Releases/Daily_Business/2014/db1208/DA-14-1780A1.pdf

Where is that company going to come up with nearly $90K?

The FCC should do an inspection of all the JC stations, imagine what they would find. Well first they have to find WFLL 1400 licensed to serve Fort Lauderdale since 1946 it doesn't even have a tower anymore.

It used to be when an owner couldn't afford to run a station they sold it for whatever they could get and moved on. Now they let them circle to drain. The question is when and how will it all end?

As a former employee there, just get the local fire department to tour the studios. They'd close it down in a heartbeat because of all the loose wires all over the place!

Speaking of loose wires...

I was listening to "The South Florida Morning News" on Friday. At around 9:00 am the signal went dead for about 15 minutes. It seems that Rich Stevens accidentally pulled one of the wires.

:D

this is not "new," but new to me. This is a listing of the secured and unsecured claims against JCE.

http://rbr.com/james-crystal-radio-group-files-for-bankruptcy/

Can you believe they owe the IRS $861K? (I assume this is "secured" since it's payroll taxes.)
They also seem to owe the state of New Mexico (when they owned a station in Roswell, NM) $25K
$103K to Dallas County, TX for KBXD.
and Palm Beach County $103K (I assume for when they owned WDJA).

How the hell do they get away with all of this and why have them not been sold out from under Jim Hilliard?

Hmmm..I see a perplexed look on the faces of Crockett and Tibbs as they are given their latest assignment to investigate WFTL on Miami Vice. The question is...WHERE'S PAUL BARSKY? IS HE BEING HELD AGAINST HIS WILL ? The WFTL website leads us to believe Paul may be coming back. (Up with Miami Vice theme music)
