Fall 2014 Arbitron for Louisville

http://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb055

It includes the Alpha stations this time. Most interesting is WXMA... somehow they've had a decent improvement even though they (supposedly) have new direct competition from WLGX. Maybe a boost from people who wanted to escape Christmas music on 106.9? The format change hasn't really helped WGHL much though.

WLGX is still not doing so well and it seems that the tweaks on WTFX, even though I know some people (myself included) enjoy them, have actually hurt them. As annoying as Christmas music is, it looks like WVEZ did the right thing by going all Christmas music. And WRKA got a nice boost temporarily by being "The Hawk," but now they're right back where they were in the spring.

WTFX fades out the old stuff...again

Sounds like WTFX is quickly fading out the old rock in favor of new rock and classic alternative. I did hear some GNR and AC/DC, but have not heard many other songs that mirror QMF's playlists. Didn't make sense to me why the two stations played the same songs.

Over the years the fox and qmf have really been neutered and are just shells of what they once were which was decent radio stations:(
Anyone remember when the fox first went on the air at 100.5 in summer of 1993. Then owned by prizm communication. And at 7 to midnight slot they had buck naked as the jock and he had this on going crush with ashley chisem. The meteorologist at whas 11. She would go on air sometimes. It was funny. Just very sad to see what has happened to the fox over the 22 yrs they have been around.

It's sad, in general, what has happened to terrestrial radio.

It's hard to imagine that next year we will 20 years post Telecom Act of 1996 that began all the undoing of radio as we knew it.

When the Fox started they stunted with nothing but Van Halen.
I could not agree more that these stations are "shells." There is no variety and no listener input. Duke used to have Café Rock, later run by Mel. They would play almost anything. Then Clear Channel acquired them. I made several requests (songs that had been played on WQMF in the past, now play on Sirius Classic Rock) and was told several times it didn't fit their format anymore. No wonder no one listens to them anymore.

I was listening to klos in los angeles the cumulus classic rock station there. They played elvis costello peace love and understanding. I bet neither qmf nor sfr would play that!!! I would consider mr costello classic alternative moreso then classis rock so to speak.

Dont you love it how summit media stole christmas back from iheart media? After just a few years ago iheart stole it from cox.

Funny, if you look at the playlist on WQMF's page there is an Elvis Colstello song, "Allison."....but it was never played on 95.7. From around midnight to Bob and Tom, different songs are played on the QMF iheart radio app. Much better and more interesting songs, Pretenders, deep Zeppelin cuts, INXS's "what you need" and "Devil Inside", REM's "stand" and "man on the moon", Jackson Browne, The Kinks' "Apeman" just to name a few.

I wonder if the LA station does the same thing?

Not a good book for QMF. Also, you have to wonder how much longer WLGX will last.
Looks like iHeartMedia is not giving up on 100.5 Myfm just yet.Vicki Rogers is returning to Louisville radio on January 26.

That is very odd. I don't see how she fits in at all to the current My FM... unless they plan to retool with the same name. She has got to be in her 50s, and while that certainly isn't old anymore, it sort of IS old to appeal to the demographics that 100.5 is going after. Maybe they're trying to drop the "hot" part and just go straight adult contemporary and go right after Lite 106.9?

So Lambert & Lindsay in the morning on 102.3 The Max are too old for the same format?

Its an iheart mess kids i tell u 100.5 is an iheart mess!!! Sorry but bringin mrs rogers over wont do no good!!! Should have kept it rockin at decade ago at 100.5 the fox pt blank and period. This is 100.5 4th format since they went on the air in summer of 1993 and three of those in the past 5 and half years! What to do with a iheart mess that is the question

Elvis duran host of the Z-100 morning show n nyc is 50 and that is a chr station so its not unheard of at all to have people in there 50s workin chr. But i have to say he looks older then 50.

I don't know, the more I think about it, it isn't really her age that is a problem, it is just that she established her career on Lite 106.9... and at that, she established her career on Lite 106.9 when it really was a soft rock station playing stuff as far back as the 70s. She has that trademark "soothing" soft rock voice that doesn't fit in with the more energetic vibe that everybody else has at 100.5. I listened to her briefly today and it was nice to hear her voice back on the air, I liked her at 106.9, but it seemed so out of place. I mean, they still occasionally play some 90s rap on there once in a while... it is hard to imagine coming out of Gangsters Paradise and hearing Vicki Rogers' soothing voice.

When i was barely on this earth in the 70s wvez was muzak with ez 107. They didnt become light rock till spring of 1986.Back when soft rock meant soft rock not nickelback and bonjovi. And it was a satelitte feed for awhile. Six months prior to that terry meiners had just started at 84 whas.

What I mean is that the songs they were playing was as old as stuff from the 70s, not that she was on 106.9 in the 70s... I think she was only at 106.9 for about 15 years or so (late 90s/early 00s). Back in those days, 106.9 sounded a lot more like Easy Rock did before they switched to GHL.

Speaking of WVEZ I've noticed more 80's songs since they returned from Christmas music.I don't hear their "80's,90's and now" slogan anymore and I've actually heard some 70's songs on there.Last week they played Old Time Rock And Roll by Bob Seger and I had to check to see if I was actually listening to 106.9.Then on Sunday I was in a store that had 106.9 on and they played Bennie And The Jets by Elton John. They now use the slogan "Today's Lite 106.9" but they seem to be going back into the past more!

Just out of curiosity, is there anybody left at WVEZ besides Jeff and MJ? I listen quite a bit but I can't name anybody on the air there besides them. It is entirely possible that I'm just not listening when the personalities are on the air. Their website seems to show Jeff and MJ as their only on-air personalities.
