Bay Area Radio Format Flips in 2015

Who do you think will be the first radio station to change formats in 2015?

I have a feeling KISQ-FM could possibly flip into Classic Hip Hop anytime soon. Sacramento's V101 Rhythmic AC format recently flipped to Classic Hip Hop.

Kiss is kind of half-way there already, playing the occasional "classic" hip hop song. Their ratings seem to be good as is, so I suspect they will tweak rather than flip.

Though I'm certainly no expert, I don't see any station ripe for flipping. The mostly likely candidate is probably 95.7, but I keep reading that sports formats can survive quite profitably with low ratings, so probably not.

KFOG seems to be falling farther down the ratings ladder and the audience is probably getting older and older, so I can see tweaking there too - to a greater mix of newer music, but not likely a flip to a new format there either.

Will CC re-brand Big 103.7?

That seems to be happening yearly. :)

We're seeing a bit of an identity crisis with V101 (KHYL) sister station to KISQ here in Sacramento. CC can't seem to figure out what format they want. While going by the "V" moniker, the station has had 3 different formats in the last 18 months.

I'm curious if CC will bring the "Throwback R&B and Hip Hop" format to KISQ.

I wouldn't be surprised to see KGMZ "The Game" flip soon. A 1.3/1.4 in the PPM is usually a big sign of a failure. Obviously, most sports fans love going to AM and KNBR! It's the 800-lb gorilla around San Francisco for sports coverage.
Could someone in SF go Variety Hits soon? How about Bob or Jack FM replacing the failing "Game" on 95.7?

12+ numbers don't adequately reflect sports station success. For nearly 2 decades, WFAN was around 15th in New York but was the #1, 2 or 3 biller in the market. If KGMZ is increasing its revenues, it will stay sports.

Comparing with KNBR is not realistic... KNBR's primary coverage includes more than double the population that KGMZ covers, so the FM has to be evaluated on how it does in its coverage area.

I agree, KFOG sounds stale these days compared to how they sounded under Dennis Constantine. They still have a great 10 at 10 and of course the great Dred Scott at night but that playlist needs help.
