New PD + Afternoon Host for Hot 97

Hot 97's new PD is Pio Ferro, joining from Spanish Broadcasting System where he was most recently national PD.
WSKQ 97.9 NYC would have been one of the stations under his jurisdiction.

Jay Dixon relinquishes his role as PD and returns to a consultancy position with Emmis and other stations across the country.

The new 3pm-7pm host is Nessa, most recently hosting 7pm-Midnight at iHeart Radio Rhythmic CHR KYLD San Francisco (WiLD 94.9).
She had also hosted overnights on a syndicated basis on iHeart stations nationwide and
has also appeared on MTV/MTV2, hosting various programs such as "Girl Code" and "The Real World Ex-Plosion After Show."

Nessa will host along side DJ Enuff with current host Cipha Sounds being reassigned to other on-air positions.

Very soon. I think theyre trying to sound like Power 106 in L.A. and try to go at Z-100 and 92.3 listeners. Hot 97 is no longer the Hip-Hop & R&B station as they used to be. Nessa is not urban shes Churban. They're bringing west coast dj's to New Yorks Cold 97. She cant beat Angie afternoons.
And how you turn down being on 32 stations with iheart just to be on Hot 97?
I dont think Hot 97's new formula is going to work. Hot 97's past...being a very arrogant station, and thinking they're #1 in everything bit them in the butt. Now Power 105 has the crowd!
 
What diffrence wojuld it really make with (Hot 97) WQHT new Program Director?

What may be interesting is Philadelphia has an all Hip-Hop Classic Hip-Hop, and whether Hot 97 maybe a candidate to flip to a Classic Hip-Hop format.

They got that wrong.

Actually, Pio comes from Power 96 in Miami, the rhythmic / hip hop station that has been in the top 3 or 4 stations in 18-34 for going on 30 years.

He has not been at SBS for about 5 years, IIRC.

First, it likely pays better. Second, Emmis is a wonderful place to work. In the same position, I'd take a pay cut to be there!
