Len Berman & Todd Schnitt to WOR mornings 1/26

hiring young talk windbags won't bring young listeners to AM radio.
Its a desperate exercise in futility as we witness the slow demise of AM radio.

No question that Len Berman is a well-respected sports reporter in NYC. The question is: will people accept him as a talk show host, talking about non-sports subjects? I guess we'll find out.

Len & Todd may last longer than Elliott but WOR better have Hilarie Barsky standing by.

Anyone familiar with Schnitt? His podcasts require registration.

I've listened to him on and off over the years. He sounds like Hannity imitating Rush. He reads his topics from a "Schnitt" List and he takes lots of calls. He'll be 49 years old this week.

JMHO

I wonder what Schnitt knows about New York and local issues. The world doesn't need another Hannity imitating Rush. The show needs to be New York, and NYC is not conservative.

That's not encouraging ... I hate lists. There's no perspective to be gained from them. Seems to me they're a way for a lazy host to put a show together without much effort. Hannity relies heavily on lists.

Schnitt is from New York.

Schnitt may be from New York. I believe that he lives in the Tampa Bay area and his programs originate at the 970WFLA studios. It will be interesting to see if he moves his point of origination to New York.

Therein lies the problem Frank.....just try and find any young person with any smarts to talk about subjects that affect young people. There are at least 11 internet radio stations based in nyc and all except 1 is rap and hip hop........the pickins for intelligent talk is mighty slim here

TAMPA (FOX 13) -
Longtime Bay area radio personality Todd "MJ" Schnitt announced Tuesday morning that he'll be leaving the Big Guava for the Big Apple to launch a new radio show.

Virtually, perhaps. Actually they said Elliot was moving to NY too but his butt never left the chair.

A related point:

I was reading a post on another board about how the new morning show does nothing to improve the diversity of the hosts on WOR. They're all 50+ white men. Actually that's true, and it's almost as true for the other two talk stations in NYC -- a city the poster refers to as, "the most diverse city on the planet."

Another poster replied that you need to be realistic -- AM talk radio listeners expect to hear conservative white male hosts, and that's just the way it is.

BS! While I abhor the idea of looking at everything through race-colored glasses, (and generally the litany of "old white guy" remarks makes me sick,) saying that you can't find intelligent, younger, non-white talent is absurd. Two examples are KFI's Mo Kelly and Salem's Kevin Jackson. Both are articulate, entertaining and conservative. These voices (or others like them) should be heard in NYC -- not because they're black, but because they're good!
