Philadelphia Radio Ratings: Holiday 2014

The Kenosha Kickers and I are definitely paying attention to this book, and we take umbrage at Mike from Delaware's comments.

WPHT reaches 38 states, many in the upper Midwest, where we are perpetually on tour. CBS, you know what you need to do.

If this one is meaningless, what should we expect in 3 weeks?

CBS needs to make 1210 WPHT a relevant and listenable radio station. The current format is not doing the trick.

Julius, you realize that Gus and his Kenosha Kickers are having some fun with us and are talking tongue in cheek about wanting CBS to make WPHT, Polka 1210. I've got to believe that even you would prefer 1210 to stay as it is than to become Polka 1210. I can hear it now, on the hour, every hour Polka 1210 could play the Pennsylvania Polka as their theme song [it's a real song].

Here about 100 miles north-northwest of Philly, I'm about as far out of the sweet-spot marketing demo as I can be without coming around again to the other side.

Yet, apparently, WPHT is the most-listened to station here, as far as TSL goes.

Lemme explain:
I can get most of the Philly AMers and FMers here. 106.1, 104.5, 98.1, etc., come in okay with a good portable. We live pretty high up -- 1450 feet above sea level.
560, 610, 1060, 1210, 990, etc. are also listenable. I can even get a decent signal from that 1180 thing, wherever it's licensed.

But when the Phillies play the Mets: It's WPHT. Even as a former New Yorker, I prefer the Phillies PBP team over the Mets' PBP team. The Mets' stations don't give Josh Lewin enough mic time for my taste.

And since 2/3rds of the Mets games traditionally have gone into extra innings, WPHT winds up getting a lot of TSL here.

More than any of the Philadelphia stations.

Harrumph.
