Another Familiar Face Exits

According to her Facebook page, Meg Coyle is leaving KING for a job at Amazon.

And another TV post on a radio board, mods. Ms. Coyle worked for KING-TV. Please move to the proper board.

Good for her. She probably sees TV circling the drain and wants to get off before the ship sinks. TV is going the way of radio in general and all can see that there's a cliff ahead (some here choose to put on blinders).

Gonna have to disagree. I just don't see how working at amazon would be a better opportunity than getting to host a television newscast. It just seems like a boring gig compared to what she's been doing at KING.

Meg Coyle

Actually, Amazon has its own production company and is now producing several streaming series made available on Amazon Prime...

New KING owner Gannett has been slashing staff at the ex-Belo stations, so morale is probably in the toilet. But just part of the overall trend in the local television industry. Many more jobs are going to disappear in the next few years. Unless you are close to retirement, you should consider other career options.

Best wishes to Meg. We watched her every Saturday doing news on NWCN. Because, you know, KIMA can't even try to get a LOCAL newscast on weekends. Both of their newscasts on Sat/Sun come from Pasco, most of the news is Pasco with a LITTLE bit of Yakima, and no one except for maybe a master control operator is working at the Yakima studios.

Other than the responses already generated, the departure of a Pac NW anchor (of whom I never heard) from the scene is of interest to all of America because... ?

@ixnay -- I put this in the Seattle/Tacoma radio thread, but apparently the moderator moved it here. So, I would suggest asking the moderator. Except for a precious few cities and states (how/why were these markets chosen?), there is no good place to put local television posts.
