WHYY Channel 12 is a disgrace

A friend of mine is a baker and followed the British Baking Show Sunday nights at eight. Of course she was looking forward to the March first finale. Much to her surprise when she tuned in at eight pm the show was half over. It's all thanks to the ongoing behathon that it started early. It may be good business to grab a captive audience in the usual sleazy attempt for dollars but to take advantage of viewers with a finale is reprehensible, irresponsible and disgraceful.
Channel 12 owes viewers an apology. If they ever issued one I doubt it would be sincere but at least it would be something.

It's just another reason not to give them a single penny.

Aaaahh, PBS. They lost us some years ago when they ruined our enjoyment of The Nutcracker, just being the hideous creatures they are.

My TV guide on FiOS for Sunday evening showed the baking competition running from 7:30 until 9:00PM, when Downton Abbey came on.

Same thing happened to me some time ago. I tuned for the scheduled start and the show was half over. I called the station. The person told me that during pledge drives, if the phones are ringing they extend the begging and what follows starts late (or gets bumped). If the phones are not ringing, they cut the break short and the next thing starts early. Viewer be damned.

For the record, I was a long-standing station member then. They have not gotten a nickel from me since. Maybe money trumps programming but what good does it do them to annoy regular members while they hustle new members? It seems like common sense: Don't annoy people when you want them to give you money.

This was nationwide. The Downton Abbey episode (which may also have pledge breaks) was the Christmas show (in March?!?); the real season finale aired Feb. 22 opposite the Oscars.
