Steve Dahl Won't Shut Up

Chicago magazine has a story about his return to radio.

“There are a lot of people under 25 who don’t even listen to the radio, which wasn’t the case back in the day. And there were only two or three stations we competed with. Now there are 10 stations and streaming music services and people talking on their phones. There’s YouTube, podcasts. You’ve really got to bring it.”

I listened a bit the first day and Steve was doing a game show trivia with a listener or two.. I couldnt get into it. I'm not much into radio game shows. Steve needs a Disco Demolition type promotion to get publicity. I don't know what he could blow up now but he needs to do something outrageous!!

How about himself? May I suggest a nitro glycerine suppository...

Better than ever

I think Steve is better than ever. Listening to just one segment doesn't accurately represent an entire show. Reporting the December ratings, the historically worst month for any radio station, not to mention only his second month back on the air, is ridiculous. Give it six months and check again. Plus get a number on how many transplants, outside the WLS airwaves reach, are listening via the Internet. I think you naysayers will eat your words. ps to the guy who wrote that article. It's kiDDY not kitty, they have grandchildren not cats, nice reporting.

That was an interesting article; thanks for posting the link. Not being a Chicagoan, I never heard Dahl on the air, but did hear of him -- his notoriety made it to Seattle radio, mainly his 'Do You Think I'm Disco' and 'Ayatollah' songs getting airplay.
