EMF buys KMCQ

Sell-out? You really thought they were in it for the long haul?

I interpret "not positive and encouraging" to refer to the selling price of only $7 million (according to ALL ACCESS).

I would love to see EMF stunt the format change with 24 hours of Kokomo

Kokomo from the Beach Boys? Yes, that definitely would wipe the slate clean. Guaranteed to have zero listeners after 24 hours!

The "Kokomo" reference refers to posts beginning in 2008 when KMCQ first went on the air which expressed great passion for music played on a station essentially running an iPod on shuffle. If you're really curious, they're locatable with the help of your favorite search engine.

So... what is going to happen to the 88.1 K-LOVE now that we have another K-LOVE coming to town?

I know Bill mentioned that Capitol Peak station earlier... I guess they really think their format is worth two signals.

88.1 is not K-LOVE. It's Air 1.

Sampled KMCQ today...and surprised to hear business as usual. Thought the flip may have happened by 4/1 (also teased someone that going God on 4/1 would have been a great April Fools's stunt because people might assume it's a gag and then when still there three days later ..... :)

Those poor unsuspecting listeners have no idea what is looming. One day they are listening to a decent mix of classic hits, the next they flip on their car stereo, only to be treated to the awful sounds of "Toby Mac" or "Hawk Nelson"

I'll take Ko-Ko-Mo any day over that garbage.

Opinion's are like A holes and well that's yours. Please for God's sake learn to spell the damn songs right too. Go back to posting DX reports and band width data and topics which are better suited for your skill set.

Dude, have a toke and chill out. And it's "Opinions", not "Opinion's".

I would, but i've actually got a lot more important things to do these days other than dx reports.

I apologize for making a rather opinionated comment. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean others wont. If they succeed in taking a bite out of KCMS, more power to em. I believe that current KMCQ listeners will have a lot to say on this matter, however.

I retire on the 15th of April, I've been waking up to them for a long time (when Jackson and Osmonds would play back to back). Will be hard to find a new wake up station for the next 8 days.

Just to clarify, KMCQ is now a C2 (492' @ 50KW equivalent) They were originally a C3 (328' @ 25kw) broadcasting from a tower east of Enumclaw when the move from The Dalles occurred in 2009. They upgraded in 2010 to C2 (and Cougar Mountain) when the 104.3/104.1 swap between CHHR and KAFE took place. THe Enumclaw transmitter was powered by a propane generator and the station would frequently leave the air when the tank ran out!

I was down in Skyway for the weekend. I didn't even bother with the radio.
