Baytown gets a LPFM

Iglesia Cristo Viene of Baytown has been granted 92.5, 19 watts at 68 meters. Transmitter is near the bend where Cedar Bayou Road turns into Ferry Road, and is just on the other side of Cedar Bayou.

This is the second LPFM grant on 92.5 in the Houston area; the other is near the intersection of Airport Blvd and the Gulf Freeway.

KCOL will blow it away more than 3-5 miles away...if it gets that far...but then the other 92.5 will also clobber it with any minor "enhancement".....

I am surprised iHeart has not tried to upgrade 92.5...IF they could get 92.3 KETX to move to 92.7 as a C3 downgrade (would have to do due to 92.9 being a full C vs 92.1 as a C1 and further south than 92.9 and 93.3 out in Devers as well) they could move the tower site west of Beaumont and go for maybe C1 or C0 status. BUT I guess the BPT market is not worth it...(but Bruce would love it...an "oldies/classic hits station possibly making Houston? LOL)

BTW these videos ads are getting DAMN annoying.....I have to keep constantly stop them, the audio is loud compared to other media I play at the same settings...and they have nothing to do with me anyway....Guess I may consider leaving this site and going to RadioInsight instead.......

You would think the people would be heard.................but evidently not.........

I AM NOT the only one who feels this way about the ads, AM I?? (I bet not!)

Well, CW, I have to agree with you. I used to keep this website open all the time to follow what is being posted. Now, if I do it, the stream eventually overloads the flash player plug, causing everything to freeze up and/or crash. The only way I can clear it is to start task manager and force stop the flash player and Firefox browser, then restart everything.

As for the LPFM, both of these should've faded away along with the rest of Guel's bogus applications that got dismissed. Unfortunately, it is what it is...

KCOL will blow it away more than 3-5 miles away...

The new Baytown LPFM is 63 miles from the KCOL transmitter, which legally clears the separation requirement, but in the "real world" is awfully snug. KCOL is a C2...look at how much Class A KVST fights with KHGV, and those two transmitters are 56 miles apart.

if it gets that far...but then the other 92.5 will also clobber it with any minor "enhancement".....

The two LPFMs on 92.5 are 21 miles apart...the overlap will be outside the useful listening area for both.

KCOL would have to go to a full Class C and move to a Devers area tower to make such an upgrade worth it...but too many things in the way...KWUP in Navasota would keep it out of the Houston market.

What's near the intersection of Airport Blvd. and the Gulf Freeway. I knew of one a little closer-in to Hobby that had proposed a transmitter location on a free-standing cellular tower. City of license was South Houston. Another Spanish-language "religious" station.

I'm very familiar with that intersection. Drove there every day (the IRS south office is close by). The area is notorious for drug dealing and panhandling. Every now and then the police run off all the homeless folks who sleep under the freeway bridge. If you watch, you might even see this guy... (See pic)
