comcast vs estrella tv

Wow, what a thread...

To elaborate a bit, Houston has lost Estrella TV on Comcast cable. Apparently, it has happened to the other Estrella TV affiliates as well. Interesting to note that Comcast owns direct competitor Telemundo, and that Liberman only has around 40 affiliates nationwide for Estrella distribution? It's like a chihuahua nipping at the heel of a pit bull. You just know the chihuahua is about to be mauled...

KZJL has a clock in the lower right hand corner of the screen counting down to the station doing dark on Comcast. Also has a phone number. Appears they will be gone at 11pm February 19 unless a last minute deal is reached.

At a check just after midnight February 20 KZJL is gone from Comcast in Houston. There is a graphic (in Spanish) saying that the channel owner has withdrawn the service, sorry for the inconvenience, and that Comcast is working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

They've been working as quickly as possible to restore call logs too...for more than a year now. "Yes, we are aware of the problem all over the country.". Naturally, when they are restored I will be asking for my credits for lost portions of the service, and dare them to tell me to call NSA, because it is out of their hands.

Eight days later and KZJL is still missing from Comcast Houston, so this dispute might drag on for a while. Not good for Liberman and its money troubles.

I did tune across one of the Liberman FM's which was running an ad critical of Comcast, accusing them of "discriminating against Hispanics." So looks like they are playing the race card.

One month later, and still no KZJL on Comcast Houston. Looks like neither side is in any hurry to resolve the impasse.

I think the Comcast behemoth will easily outlast the money-troubled Liberman Broadcasting on this dispute. KZJL may be discovering they don't have the viewership or leverage they thought they did.

If Liberman goes under, do you think any of their stations might become spectrum bait?

Two months into the dispute and KZJL is still missing from Comcast Houston. Looks like the great outpouring of protest that Liberman expected never materialized, and Comcast is not giving in.

They're always playing commercials on the Radio ( I'm assuming paid actors) saying they already cancelled Comcast because they're not going to support a company that discriminates hispanics.

Bumping the thread again to note that the impasse between KZJL and Comcast has now hit the four month mark. Wonder how long Comcast has to keep the channel slot open before filling it with something else?

Estrella Tv is now claiming THANKS FOR RAISING YOUR VOICE WE HAVE BLOCKED COMCAST FROM BUYING TIME WARNER. lol

If they think that KZJL and Liberman had anything to do with the collapse of the Comcast-Time Warner Cable merger, they are as stupid as they are arrogant.

KZJL is little more than a bug on Univision's windshield.

Heard them yesterday in a assignment announcement that Donald Trump has been speaking bad against immigrants. Let's fight hard to keep him from being in power. And let's fight to take Xfinity from Comcast in power too. They mention some guys names from Comcast and give a phone number to call.

Time again to note that the impasse is now at six months. However the graphic on KZJL's Comcast slot still assures us that the parties are working to resolve the situation as soon as possible. Whatever.

NRJ/Titan TV might be interested because of KZJL's power and COL of Houston. English-language programming will be moved to the stronger signal of KZJL and KUBE might be a Spanish-language independent again.

Houston is too big of a market to be spectrum bait. Especially with the historically high utilization of OTA TV in this city and the current cord-cutting trend tipping the scales in favor of broadcast TV and OTT.
