Family Radio living in another dimension...?

I always thought that Family Radio was an organization that lived outside the mainstream of radio and reality. ALl there stations were very old-fashioned sounding with hymn's, etc.

I came across this youtube interview with Charles Menut of Family Radio's WFME...and was surprised at how aware he was of the industry, it's past and present course. And mostly his love of the business.

I wonder if he could be that vocal while Camping was still alive. I'm still not expecting them to switch to a CCM format, but it would be good if he or some else in Family Radio would be vocal about listening to CCM.

The classic hymns on Family Radio are warm and comforting.

The classic hymns of Family Radio are very warm and comforting these days.

Family radio offers a very warm and special place to pray and meditate because of a very comforting blend of classic, time honored, traditional music that they offer.Thankfully,we have many other contemporary station offerings elsewhere, which we celebrate too. Therefore, to have a Christian station offering classic music is very important, worthwhile and special. So,speaking only about the Family Radio offerings these days, regarding the music,we are thankful for the warmth it creates. The tone and presence that the classic music creates on the station these days brings great comfort to us.We hope it is embraced now more than ever before and in fact becomes the focal point of their ministry along side bible readings and teaching.

We are very thankful for the chance to respectfully offer our opinion and to have the privilege to express these feelings here to the good radio people that have the ability to further the cause of keeping the classic music alive and well.We hope that efforts are made to embrace the traditional hymns and comforting music presentation on Family Radio.Thank you again.

WHat should he say "about listening to CCM"?

It would be taking a stand against the anti-CCM attitude that the management and many listeners of traditional Christian stations like Family Radio have. I'm not saying they have to change their music, but it would help tear down some of the walls that a lot of traditionalists have toward CCM.

I just hope that that Family Radio will distance themselves from the false teachings and date setting for the return of Christ that Camping was guilty of.

THose of us who work in radio know that there are as many differing tastes in music as there are people.

Those of us who frequent churches know that music is one of the many divisive factors in churches today. You can never please everyone...either the music is too old, too new, too fast, too slow, too rythmic, etc.

There are many within the greater church that do not like CCM...and they have their opinion. I would not expect to change their mind. (And they won't change mine.) Camping and Family radio are old-line conservative Christians. They are entitled to their opinions. I wouldn't excpect them to accept my opinions...or they mine. They don't have to be "be vocal about listening to CCM". There are all kinds of people that make the Christian Church go around. ;-)

He was so much more than his "end of the world" pronouncements. He did a lot of good. It's sad that Camping will go down in history and remembered for this one thing. He wasn't an evil dude....a little misguided...a little too conservative for my taste...but not a bad dude.
