New Translator In Atlantic City on 92.5

RadioInsight reports that WOND 1400 in Pleasantville-Atlantic City has added an FM translator on 92.5 W223CO. Over the years a number of FM stations and translators were added at the shore on frequencies adjacent to powerhouse Philadelphia FM signals (like 94.3 & 98.3), but I think this is the first directly on the same frequency. Great for Cat Country 107.3 & Thunder 106.5, but I guess even at 50 watts it will cause interference for people who drive from this area to the shore - as I remember XTU carried pretty well all the way to the shore. Can we expect more translators covering up Philadelphia stations in the fringes?

From where I live(Scr-W/B region of NEPA), our situation here is the worst. There are a bunch of translators that cover up some of the Philly and Lehigh Valley frequencies, like 92.5(relaying Gem 104 classic hits), 93.3(relays Word FM network), 96.1(ESPN 630/1240), 98.9(relays a religious station off the AM band), 100.3(relays a local religious station on 88.1), 100.7(relays Fox Sports over on AM freqs 1340/1400), 104.5(relays Gem 104 WGMF out of Scranton), 106.1(relays WRTI). So far, the only frequencies I can pay attention to when there is a tropo opening are 97.5 and 105.3. As for our 92.5 translator, it comes pretty well outside of W-B, including Hazleton and parts of the Poconos, I can even still hear them when driving down the PA turnpike heading towards the Lehighton/Stroudsburg interchange where it usually interferes with WXTU. That's because they are the only one that runs on 250 watts. Both 96.1 and 100.7 are only heard within the city of Wilkes-Barre and surrounding areas, but once you enter the PA turnpike, they were replaced by both Cat Country and WLEV, respectively.

Years ago, I can pull in some Philly signals from my location in the valley cities of Luzerne County, now it seems impossible because of all the translators.

So, it seems like the addition of translators is starting to get more common. Perhaps, maybe Philly could add theirs that will cover up some of the shore stations..

Already done: 96.9 transmitting from Wyndmoor, 107.3 in University City, a CP for 95.1 in West Philly. 103.7 is too close to 103.9, 100.7 doesn't make it to Philly and neither do any of the Class A stations.

Ah WZXL does make it up my way in haddon heights, nj. I am 2 or 3 miles south east of philly, and when I rotate my FM antenna, I can null WLEV and pick up WZXL, tropo or no tropo.
