And over at CBS yesterday, a legend came back...

Too bad it was only for one round, but at the same time (in some areas) as Kathie Lee and Hoda were "naked" as a stunt, Bob Barker came back out of the surprise of the whole audience yesterday for April Fool's Day. He is 91 and what an amazing man he is. He hosted the first segment, did an item up for bids and Lucky Seven as if he was still 75, and what seems like perfect health! What a legend. And great car win as well.
Tuesday on Inside Edition, he told a correspondent "I'll come back anytime they (Price staff) want me to". That doesn't surprise me. Even in retirement, Price is still big in Bob's heart.

there are not many older guys that can still do it like bob

yes i like to see Monty host one instead of Wayne Brady

My wording must have confused you. He did One Bid, but obviously wasn't in Contestant's Row...he was asking for the bids and announcing the actual retail price. That's what I mean when I say "Bob did the first item up for bids."

And, really, does it matter? He called it "item up for bids" repeatedly in his tenure, so calling it that instead of "one bid round" is hardly a major difference.

Yes it is, and Yes it does matter. Barker did toss to the presentation of the "First Item Up For Bids" (the actual item) because that was on the cue card, but the round is called "One Bid." It always has, and never to my knowledge has anyone called it on-air the "Item Up For Bids Round," Ever.

That's why stating Barker "did the first Item Up For Bids" made no sense to me.

What the round is called in "inside baseball" parlance is one thing. But if everyone knows what was meant because of the language that was most commonly heard, if not almost exclusively heard, then...well, again, why does it really "matter?" If it never mattered enough to call it "one bid" on the air, then what leads to angst over a casual reference, when the intent is clear?

I'm just glad we have Youtube so I'll be able to see it if I ever remember to.

No, trying to do it at home is not a good idea.

There was another Youtube clip from "Price" but I lost it because Hotmail has done something unbelievably bizarre that I suppose makes somebody happy.

I can't forward the link to myself. It never appears in a reply. Only in the original. And there's no link to copy because it shows what the clip is and gives you a place to click. Which I never can because I'm never where I can watch when looking at those emails. And if I delete the email, thelink is gone.

It should also be on CBS.com unless it's been moved to All Access only.
The YouTube clip was easiest to find. I just came here.

I don't know when I've ever enjoyed a pricing game more.

And he did the "item up for bids", whatever the proper terminology is. Curious that they left out the actual bidding.
