Garrett Michaels out at The End

Surprised none of the experts here have chimed in about the dismissal of Garrett Michaels on Thursday. Good thing we got robust discussions about it.

Oh wait, a PetSmart sized signal on Whidbey Island, pot and politics in Colorado are what's really going on in Seattle radio. Silly me.

Well how about doing something constructive? For example, how did you find out about Michaels' firing? Do you think the new guy will finally get rid of the 90s tracks, or move to a harder rock sound?

I don't think they have any 90's tracks besides "Yellow" from Coldplay, but I might be mistaken.

They still play grunge-era standards (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, AIC etc.). They've noticeably decreased over the last year, probably because they don't fit in well with the keyboard heavy sounds of contemporary alternative.

I thought The End was performing better in the ratings recently. Did Garrett get fired or did he contribute to turning the station around? Get it performing decently and then decide to move on...

Okay, then you are certainly right. I kinda forgot that they still acknowledged 90's alternative among their current alt lean.

AQH's point is well taken. It was reported in ALL ACCESS (and other places) on Wednesday. Dave Richards slides into the PD chair "for now", but it wouldn't surprise anyone if that became permanent.

It's about time KNDD laid off the '90s/Seattle grunge thing. That's KZOK fodder now. There's a brand new generation today of Seattle bands that sound NOTHING like Soundgarden or Alice In Chains. They deserve a LOT more exposure than these old overplayed grunge dinosaurs.

Sarcastic, yet amusing. The sad thing is.. only three or four of the usual experts are the only ones chiming in.
