American Idol to be cancelled after next season?

Heard reports that next season could be their last.

I assume that the show is completely dying and it's not interesting to watch anymore, considering that there were unwanted changes like only the Top 5 contestants making the tour, but the venue for the tour will be much smaller. Other changes include Twitter saves, once-a-week show where there is an elimination after the live performances. But the biggest part is that most of the Idol winners in past seasons were all males, some of them did not gain as much success like Phillip Phillips, Kelly Clarkson, David Cook, and Carrie Underwood. The sad thing is, that I'm expecting an all-male finale this Wednesday, after one is expected to be eliminated during the first part of the Finale week, which takes place Tuesday night.

If there is a next season, then it's possible that the season would be much shorter, and this is also Ryan Seacrest's last year for his contract with the show, unless he is renewed.

They've been predicting this for a long time. I'm surprised the Hollywood Reporter is saying all three current judges will return. Typically they only last two years. It's quite a grind, and all three have very active music careers as well. I would have predicted that the producers would shake up the judging in an effort to goose the ratings. But we'll see. The market is a bit glutted with musical reality shows, and it's been a while since one the winners has gone on to great careers. Even The Voice seems to be a bit worn out.

It's official:

‘American Idol’ Renewed For Final Season

It’s an end of an era. One of the most successful reality series ever, American Idol, will end its run after one final season. Fox has renewed the venerable music competition series for a 15th season, which will be its last. Coming back are host Ryan Seacrest, who has been on the show since Day 1, as well as the judges for the past two seasons Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. In addition to the competition, Season 15 also will reflect on the show’s run and some of its notable alumni.

You knew the writing was on the wall once the scheduled this year's "American Idol" finale not for next Wednesday, the final day of the May sweeps period, but THIS Wednesday.

Too bad it's only 13 years too late with them doing this. I despise that franchise! Pop music is decided by a winner of a glorified karaoke contest? Oh please! I'm proud to say that I've never watched a second of that garbage and will be so glad that it'll soon be gone! :D

It doesn't help when the producers are constantly tinkering with the contestants. Such as bad advice for song selections. Having a voice coach ruin a performance, singers that can't stick to the melody while doing vocal gymnastics and octave jumps to show out in front of the other contestants and ruining the songs in the process. If the producers and judges would stop trying to put everyone in a box, we might actually find someone good.

Yeah, it's getting much worse. The judges are giving too much criticism to female contestants while they give out standing ovations to their male counterparts. When it comes to the female group, almost most of the shocking eliminations that occurred at the end of the results show were from the same gender. Examples were Pia Toscano, who got eliminated very early in the tenth season, Angie Miller, Kellie Pickler, Jennifer Hudson(who later became an Oscar-winning actress), Tamayra Gray, and others I can't even think of. Males too, like Chris Daughtry, Colton Dixon, Casey James, and James Durbin. I guess this show is more leaning toward the female audience because most of their demographics often pick just males to move on to the next round for a shot at stardom. This results in many of the so-called WGWGs, or "White Guys With Guitars" winning almost every season starting from the seventh season, with the exception of a brief drought in season 12 where Candice Glover won. Such winners have no guarantee of post-Idol stardom, with the exceptions of David Cook, Kris Allen, Scotty McCreery and Phillip Phillips. The last winner within the same category, Caleb Johnson from last season was an absolute flop. He never made any sales from his first album upon winning the show nor any of his songs has reached the Billboard charts. The expectation for this season of having Nick Fradiani and Clark Beckham in the grand finale as the Top 2 is what drives the ratings further down the basement because the show hasn't had a successful female winner since Jordin Sparks from the sixth season, and not a white girl has won the show since Carrie Underwood from the fourth season.

Apart from the gender biases, unwanted changes have caused many complaints, such as having just the Top 5 only perform at smaller venues across the country as opposed to the Top 10 group from past seasons, Twitter saves, last placed contestants not able to get a chance to sing during the early stages of the final round after the last contestant made it to the next week, and now the possible elimination(of my fave) during the finale being held at the Dolby Theater.

So this is why this show has lost its energy and deserves to be canceled.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I was nervous and a little bit mad after going through social media that my favorite remaining female contestant named Jax was eliminated during the beginning of the first part of the finale. I was very livid and lost sleep over it. I was upset before when my favorite Idol contestants were eliminated and were sent home, such as Aaron Kelly(who lives in my home state of Pennsylvania) from Season 9 and Angie Miller from the twelfth season, but I easily got over them, but I was never that much upset after hearing that Jax maybe was unexpectedly eliminated in favor of having the two guys competing each other. This is significant because American Idol hasn't had a successful female winner since Jordin Sparks won it in the sixth season, and a white female winner since the days of Carrie Underwood. Now, this show is absolutely rigged in favor of just the boys making it this far in the competition. And now that the show is expected to be canceled after next season, the need for a successful female winner after years of mostly male winners have increased, and so far with this shocking elimination, it's seems to be the end of the road for the females who wanted to win the final season before it is officially canceled. Adding insult to injury, she did not get a chance to perform her single if she wins the season, just like any other final two contestants. This proves that the show is definitely getting cancelled and the overall ratings are dropping further. Tonight's grand finale will be the worst one ever, the ratings will be the lowest the show has ever seen since last year.

Because of what happened last night, I am officially ending my support and interest for American Idol from now on until it's series finale, which takes place May of next year. This means no more voting for finalists using different forms of method, and even watching the audition rounds and Hollywood week. This is permanent, considering how upset I am about the shocking elimination. Hopefully, Fox or some other network will eventually start up a new singing competition show similar to Idol, but dedicated to searching for the next pop diva once American Idol leaves for good. I'm tired of seeing "white guys with guitars", commonly known as WGWGs winning every season.

End of story.

Winning isn't that important. Who has even heard of any recent winners? Kellie Pickler (who is from my area) didn't avdance that far and yet she's one of the most popular "Idol" contestants in term of still having hits.

And Katharine McPhee (who lost to Taylor Hicks) is now starring in CBS's "Scorpion."

But let's not take away this: American Idol was the #1 show in all of television for an unprecedented six years in a row!!!!! That's one more than "60 Minutes", "The Cosby Show", and "All In The Family"; Season 7 (won by David Cook) even helped Fox become the #1 network overall for 2007-08 (beating CBS).

Let's not forget "Smash". I liked the show and I liked her in it.

And she's my favorite actress on "Scorpion". It bothered me that her character wanted to leave but she may have changed her mind.
