In my opinion, "Unregistered" does not actually read our responses to him / her. Just ignore his / her posts...

Simply ignoring him (yeah it's a guy) isn't always going to work. The mods need to know this guy has been stalking KLUV jocks (most notably Jim Zippo). I got a message from Zippo's wife saying he's been calling the station constantly and won't quit! I just can't let that fly over my head knowing he's going to keep on doing that.

I am aware of the repeated phone calls KLUV is getting from this guy, but that's KLUV's problem, not the Radio Discussions moderator's.

Hi

It becomes Frank's problem when the same thing is happening here. Oops, I mean "?" It's trolling, which is a direct violation of the forum's TOS that you, me, and everyone else agreed to when we first registered to participate here. I find it peculiar that an unregistered participant such as this is allowed to carry on with this foolishness, while other registered members are being shown the door for posting statements that can be backed up factually, due to management's fear of some sort of perceived litigation resulting from the posting here, on a public message board.

Like the two of you, I've participated here for years. The same holds true for you, Frank. You've been around, IIRC, since the Doug, Lance, Tanim, and Buca days of radio-info. You have demonstrated on numerous occasions that you are insightful, well versed in the medium, and present your knowledge in a well thought out manner. Yet, you and Boz allow these unregistered users to post freely, with no regard for the structure that we oldtimers mostly adhere to on this forum. I say mostly, because there are certainly times where all of us, at one time or another, have allowed ourselves to be baited into losing our cool on occasion. What gives? People complained about the "Avid Listener" because he "trolled" nearly every thread on this forum, and he was tossed out on his ear as a result. Isn't this quite similar?

I'm looking for the dislike button myself, as this is probably the most glaring reason that the overall populace has dwindled here, and the level of civilized and intelligent discussion has become rather scarce. The unregistered postings NEED to go! If not, then perhaps it's time we old guys pack up our tents and go set up camp at one of your competitors. It's become beyond ridiculous, bordering on the down right ignorant.

CW, a pain? Lol, no. I think sometimes he just forgets he's already splashed that cup of coffee with a shot of amaretto once. :-D He's just fed up, same as most of us.

Be Nice To Unregistered

Please be nice to unregistered. I am 99% sure his name is Johnny Haliburton -- his writing style is very similar to some Facebook post on various local buisiness and government agencies Facebook pages. On those he says the same things over and over including a Facebook page for a business that I manage. I am pretty sure he is special needs based on his profile and what I can learn about him -- hence the obsessiveness and lack of realizing how annoying he is. He just loves radio and likes to share his opinion... over and over and over.

Keep in mind all posts by unregistered users must be approved by a moderator before it becomes visible to the rest of us. If any one particular unregistered user becomes a problem, they can probably block his IP address.

Last time I checked, AL was still active here even though he was tossed on Radio-Insight. To avoid seeing his posts, I put him on my block list.

Here is a screen shot of a portion of this thread. It will show you that not EVERY "unregistered" post is allowed. We do moderate those as well. I understand that the ability to post as unregistered is now being abused across the board. It was allowed in order to let the occasional visitor post and hopefully with a good experience, would then register. It also allows people to share news/rumors anonymously. Apparently a few people with little regard for civility and decorum have decided it's more fun to abuse the service. I also know it makes it difficult to follow/respond to specific person when all are "unregistered" and do not give themselves some identifier.

In any case, it is becoming more of a time suck for Frank and I to continue to moderate the "unregistered" posts so, unfortunately, I will have to turn that option off going forward.

I'm glad to hear that actually. It was only a matter of time before this would happen.

Yes, a standing ovation and three cheers for the both of you gentlemen! That is very much appreciated.

I'm not sure if this will help --- Jim says the numerous emails he gets asking the same questions about schedules and music on KLUV are from someone by the name of Chris who has an email address using "Cowboy Bob."

fyi, I just tried to post this prior to logging in...arrgh! Don't want to be mistaken as an "unregistered"!!!

"Cowboy Bob"... Where have I heard that name before...?
