leesa mitchell gone from 103.5 waky

I wish her well. I remember when she did mornings with george lindsey on mix 102
She also worked at rock 102 amongst other stations in louisville.
Wonder what happened?

Here is what she is saying on Facebook (I'm pulling a line out of her whole goodbye for emphasis):

"As of today, I am no longer Waky. Yes, it breaks my heart because I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, plus personal funds into the cause to help grow the station. But the Long drive, long hours, long drama and little pay finally took its toll on the Diva. That's all I'm going to say. Again, many thanks and much love to all."

Wasn't she also on Big Cat like many of the other WAKY people are?

I'm pretty sure she was on Big Cat at one time though I don't know how long that went on. Maybe a long time.

She was at WRKA 103.1 and probably more than that for Cox.

I just checked archive.org and it looks like she was on Big Cat as recently as November, and considering that most of their on-air staff is still the WAKY staff (Bobby Jack Murphy, Gator Glass, and Benita Jean... even though Benita Jean plays the role of "Joy Jackson" when she is on WAKY), it wouldn't surprise me if they had her pulling double duty as recently as last week. I never listen to Big Cat though so I don't know for certain.

Wow. From Leesa's Facebook post it looks like she was helping fund the station? I guess they needed money to help pay for 620 AM and 100.1 FM.
On another note,I wonder if Rocky Knight might show up on WAKY soon. He and Joe Fedele could have a reunion from their days at WLUE 104.3

I wonder if Leesa will reappear somewhere. "Lynda and Leesa" or "Lambert and Mitchell" for The Max? A pairing of George Lindsey's old cohosts. They seem to still be unsure as to what they want to do with Lynda's show over there anyway. Not sure that would work though.

The list of out-of-work (well maybe "out-of-work" is the wrong term, but they're no longer in the radio biz anyway) talent in Louisville does keep growing though. I still say that if iHeart had any sense and cared about long-term success, they'd nuke 100.5 (salvaging Vicki Rogers first, of course) and bring back Louie or a Louie-like format (MyHits 100.5 maybe...) with some of these people.

I'd like to see her on 100.5. I wonder if the new PD for 98.9 and 100.5 will make any changes to 100.5?

Now is the perfect time to bring Louie 100.5 with Rocky and Troy in the mornings, Leesa Mitchell middays and Vicki in the afternoon

It is sort of funny how every conversation around here ends in talking about how awful 100.5 is and how it needs to go. I've yet to see anybody (on here or in the real world) defend that mess over there!

What the max should do is give the mornin gig to troy roebuck. A funny man. For it sounds like rocky is done with radio more or less.
They need to pair linda with someone funny. I thought tj nelson whom is not in radio anymore would fill in sometimes on lambert n lindsey he was funny. He use to work at lrs 105 as diesel.
Time will tell.

Part of me can't help but to wonder if 102.3 is just leaving that spot empty in case things don't work out for George in Houston. He has been gone for almost three months now and they don't seem to be making any public effort to fill that spot or give the show a permanent name. They haven't even changed the name of the Lambert & Lindsey Facebook page, it is still called Lambert and Lindsey! I know that it isn't very easy to change the name of a Facebook page, but I also know that it doesn't take three months. Given how they operate, they would have posted that job opening the second they knew George was leaving if they really wanted to replace him. There is really no reason for them to do anything privately or behind-the-scenes because everybody knows there is a vacancy there.

I dont think george is comin back. Yes randolph did twice but george is in his 50s and i am sure thought long and hard is this the right career move and he thought it was. I bet it works out well.

What makes you think Jesse isn't the permanent co host? 102.3 has now freshened up some of the imaging and are now saying Today's Best Mix.

I don't listen but going by the ratings, 102.3 is doing fine, why change anything?
I'm still hoping for changes at 100.5 and 1080, Louie 100.5 and sports radio 1080 WBBN

Mostly the fact that they're just calling it "The Max Morning Show" and seem to be hesitating to give it any real identity like "Lynda and Jesse." And the fact that they're still using the name "Lambert and Lyndsey" on Facebook. One common reason people don't change names is because they know they're going to change it again very soon. Lynda isn't going anywhere and neither is Jesse, but it sort of feels like there is a gap to be filled where George was. I think they're just waiting to see how things settle out before moving ahead. I wouldn't say that Jesse is definitely not the permanent co-host, in fact I'd say there is a good chance he will be. As for George, I should be clear: I'm pretty sure there is no way he is coming back to 102.3 on any morning show anytime soon, but given how finicky radio is, anything can happen to a career, even one or two days into a new job. I just think they still haven't fully developed their plan, even if it does just stay as it is now. Somebody even asked them on Facebook a while back why they haven't changed the name of the page, and they responded by saying something along the lines of waiting until they have a new name for the show.

Also, something to consider on the ratings: we haven't actually seen how 102.3 has been doing post-George. The most recent ones for The Max were for the winter, and he left at the end. I doubt they've changed enough to be significant though. I used to listen everyday and still do often, but I've also been turning to Carter Mann a lot too (despite of that lame publicity stunt). But The Max itself isn't going anywhere and I don't think Lynda and Jesse are either, I just think there are some decisions that have yet to be made about how to proceed with the morning show.
