KSET was back for one day

From my sources...engineer Robert Tindle from Lufkin was down at the KSET site Wednesday afternoon till 8pn Thursday with KSETon the air...probably to keep the license active. .mmmmmmm very interesting..

For those who haven't heard, I'm buying KSET...all money has exchanged hands and just waiting for FCC approval..the land and equipment, of course, mine now..gotta build studios!!! Gonna be 1st class with a PR&E ABX console in the CR..and more to come :)
CQUAM AM Stereo and classic Top40...upgrades to follow.. Legend Bob Leonard has signed on for a weekend shift.. Trying to get other legends like John Records Landecker and CHARLIE VAN DYKE...think I'm over doing it for this market??? :p

That's great, CW!
I'm sure this station will be wonderful. :)

Will the sale appear with the FCC soon? Couldn't find the app just now.

Congrats, CW! I'll look forward to this.

A technical question I have is just what radios already out there would benefit from c-quam stereo. For example, my VW has a HD radio - I've seen information that these radios may be able to receive AM stereo broadcasts.

Yes some HDs decode but remain in narrow audio bandwidth....but it is stereo...we are working on a retrofit board to be installwby places like Goodyear audio and others so you can have full AMAX reception... BTW check out 27.4 on TV today..there is WLS is CQuam.. And the BIG89 Rewinds...probably the best programming on that channel in a long while...normally a preacher from Baytown but he had studio issues... The video is still connected and still a dark screen.......

Pretty far from Cypress - I don't think I will get much of a signal.

Chris, like WOW! You bought yourself a station for $100!

Yes, very cool! Good job on the price. :)

From RadioInsight:
"Christopher Boone’s Southeast Texas Telecom acquires Silent 1300 KSET Lumberton/Beaumont, TX from Procton-Williams, Inc. for $100."

Long legal story I cannot get into here..so I wont...

Starting to look at studio locations....got Dallas Cowboy Radio Network affil, Brother Jon Rivers and Tom Kent, and legend Bob Leonard doing a weekend shift!! Trying to get John Records Landecker and Charlie Van Dyke or Beau Weaver (or Jeff Davis or Fried/Fred Winston...and call it Saturday Top 40 Legends)...Got the AM stereo equipment and we're going to give away AM home stereo tuners....also a friend in AZ has the Motorola 2 chip AMAX set and getting the boards made in China is costing us maybe 10 bucks....so we can offer listeners to take their car to say John Goodyear Audio, have it modified in 30 mins, charge them a SMALL fee and they will have an AMAX qualified AM stereo section with noise blanker, etc...

It is gonna be sooo much fun...hope we can do a special on the 4th and 5th of July...if the FCC does approve xfer of control by then..nothing in my record  so that should happen without any issues...

CW, those are some good names to get on your station. The Cowboys haven't been on the radio here lately, so that sounds like a good fit as well.

I've always wondered what AM stereo would be like. The station where I worked back in the day was an AM/FM (AM top 40, FM Drake-Chenault automation). At some point, the owner was convinced to simulcast the AM and FM together at night (the AM coverage at night was awful, and the FM was 100,000 watts) but the audio chain for the simulcast from the AM studio left a lot to be desired initially. It took a lot of work until the sound quality was good on the FM side.

You rock! Wish I was in your listening area! :)

Would you possibly be able to stream online?

I'm sure you already know this, but if reasonably priced, a nice sounding audio stream is the way to go considering AM reception at home is challenging for the average listener and nearly everyone has home internet. Many cars would benefit too as bluetooth stereo is becoming standard equipment and data allowances are going up on most mobile phone service providers.

For those who have not heard, the studios for 1300 will be located "high atop the downtown potbellies" as John Records Landecker used to say....14th floor of Edison Plaza in downtown Beaumont...a corner view of the Neches river and the I10 bridge...and a 24hr private fitness center for all employees....Sweet huh?

Now to hunt down some consoles....the bldg folks will BUILD the studios as required for free....and with paid utils and maint, I could NOT pass up this deal...pictures soon of the space...
