New Format: All Marijuana (All The Time)

You give us 22 minutes (and it will seem like three hours).
Munchies on the ones.

Another guy who wanted his very own hobby station.

Marijuana Is in the Air and on It, Too

...Marc Paskin bought a radio station in Colorado and converted it to a marijuana-themed format....

And in May, he moved to Denver, bought a radio station for $875,000 and christened it Smokin 94.1, declaring it the state’s only pot-themed FM station. Yes, the Grateful Dead get heavy airplay, as do the Rolling Stones and several reggae artists. In addition to classic rock and music to get stoned by, the station plays marijuana-laced comedy bits. It made its debut on June 1.

“This is my million-dollar toy,” Mr. Paskin said.

He is not just the owner but also the on-air talent: As Gary Ganja, he is the regular afternoon D.J. In the studio, he wears flip-flops, a Bob Marley wig and a Rolex. ...

It's about time someone tried something new and original!

What's really funny is the blowback a former president of a cannabis legalization and advocacy group [bottom of the article] who called it “ignorant stereotyping.” PC people with no sense of humor are everywhere.

Not sure if that's PC or PR. Proponents of legalization want to make weed - excuse me, cannabis - respectable, even gourmet. The booze industry and their ad agencies know that. No gutter winos in their ads. Same for the "gaming" industry (that's casinos). No working class, middle aged housewives in moo-moos pulling on slot handles in their ads.

During the civil rights era, the NAACP pushed Hollywood to have all Black characters be Sidney Poitier or Lena Horne types.

In the alternate reality in which Jack Webb lived, stoners are criminal psychopaths, out committing 211s and too busy to listen to the radio.

And for the juicers, there already is a format which calls itself "Martini Radio."

(Voice of heavily drugged announcer - picture wasted Johnny Fever): "DUDES! I'm gettin' ready to play......ah, er, DUDES....I think I forgot......(voice trails off to static........
