June ratings

Big month for V and Kiss at the top. Tough month for Cumulus with Power beating Q, kicks getting bullied by the Bull, Rock 100.5 is a mess, Newsradio is ranked in the 20's, again, Nash is non existent beaten by GST and the comedy on bull's HD channel. Cluster wise tough sell against CBS, Cox and I heart.

Can't even figure out has been central is still on 106.7
No comedy on Bull HD...its WCCV simlucast and Old School 99.3 on hd3. I expect that the new 102.1 Atlanta translator will be a WCCV simlucast.

Cumulus cannot even figure out how to win in its own backyard!!! Need I say more about how inept that company's corporate programmers and decision makers are?

Power 96.1 overtaking Q100 by a sizable margin is no surprise to me. I actually thought it would happen a little sooner.

Rock 100.5 and Newsradio 106.7 are complete dumpster fires. Kicks 101.5 will always play second fiddle to The Bull, and sadly, Q100's best days are behind it. I do not see Power 96.1 relinquishing that lead anytime soon.

I am curious with what Entercom will do with Star 94. Hopefully keep it! Because they have great sounding radio stations in Denver and even up I-85 in Greenville (SC). And I don't know why it won't work in Atlanta. Will they include the Atlanta Falcons as part of the deal as well?

One will have to think how much more misery can 100.5, 98.9 and 106.7 handle. I'd feel quite uncomfortable if I was the station manager for those stations. Sad story unfolding. Someone just bring out the coffin already and stop being greedy.

I new this would (and could) eventually happen - even before Power 96.1 existed!

I don't think I have anything left to say!

Star is here to stay, but the Falcons are not. They already announced they will be on The Game starting this upcoming season.

It still hasn't occurred to Lew and the boys to put up some billboards for their stations. For a company that relies on advertising, they need to do some themselves.

Seeing that almost all News/Talk stations identify with their call letters, maybe it's time to give 106.7 some real ones. It's doubtful Cumulus could use WABC-FM as Disney may object, but there's nothing stopping them from using WJR-FM as their Detroit AM station is not on FM.

Seriously, a couple of strategically placed billboards around town can't hurt. And with the stock at $1.99 per share, now would be a good time.

Huh? Heritage call letters on heritage stations in their original markets may work for boomers, but changing call letters won't bring new listeners to 106.7. Especially if those call letters have their heritage in another city. Neither will billboards.

Yes...several of us predicted that a true top 40 station would do well in Atlanta despite all the naysayers. And it did. I like the way Power sounds. I think they've even broadened their playlist. We all complained about this in the beginning. It is really a straight down the line CHR format. I love it.

Yes, but didn't CBS and Lincoln have a partnership to carry the games last year? This year, it will be all be CBS.

Star 94 aired the first few games, simulcasting with 92.9 and 790. Then Star 94 dropped out, and it was just 92.9 and 790. But the ad dollars all went to Lincoln Financial.

Could someone post a link please? Just wanted to see who the cellar dwellers are. Thanks.

V-103 seems to have finally gotten over their slump
Kiss 104 is doing well also (slumpless)
B-98 is down a bit (not a lot of good AC songs out this Summer)
The changes at Star look like they are working
Magic's wows continue
WWWQ-HD3 I think has gone too deep with their Hip-Hop cuts, and thus the ratings loss. Listeners want to hear the HITS not the near HITS!

I am trying to understand a possible trade that could be happening within the Atlanta and San Diego market. If I am reading this correctly that when the LMF and Entercom deal is finally closed, Star 94/WQXI will trade with the San Diego's CBS stations. Yes, No?? Interesting concept if indeed they will move forward with it. To me, kinda makes a bit more sense. Anyone have anything to add from this? However I'd like to see Entercom-Cumulus trade; oh boy that would be awesome. But considering Cumulus has its corporate headquartered here in Atlanta, that will just be an unrealistic dream come true.

what is KISS 104.1 doing correctly that MAJIC 107.5/97.5 isn't?

Majic is too constricted by being a part of an urban cluster. It doesn't have much so of a programming freedom as V-103 for sure and Kiss 104.1 as well. Both of those are standalone urban stations in this market. Atlanta is a market where freedom of musical programming is what wins you listeners not format rubrics.

Look also at the corporate culture of the two owners. Cox is radio, their other divisions are separated from one another. Radio One is "The Black Media Specialist" where the agenda of the community and/or their other media platforms at times overrides the business plan.
