Cuts coming to CBS Radio?

On DCRTV.COM he mentions in addition to cuts coming to CBS Radio's DC and Baltimore stations CBS would most likely make cuts at CBS stations across the country. Anyone care to speculate how this will affect the Hartford Stations - HOT 93.7 WZMX, 96.5 WTIC-FM, Lite 100.5 WRCH, and WTIC AM 1080? We already know they laid off and eliminated the News Director Position at WTIC AM 1080.

WRCH 100.5 already runs Delilah Weeknights Midnite-5AM and Saturdays/Sundays 7PM-5AM. They're also automated 5AM-530AM and 9AM-10AM Monday-Friday. They also run the syndicated Jim Brickman Show Saturdays 6AM-10AM.

I think 96.5 TIC-FM runs syndication at night. 8PM-12AM. At one time they carried The Billy Bush Show at night. Don't know if they still do or not.

HOT 93.7 is automated 2AM-6AM Monday-Friday and 3AM-6AM Saturday and Sunday Mornigs.

I just hope if they make cutbacks at WTIC AM 1080 it doesn't become a wasteland of Infomercials on The Weekend (outside of Play-by-Play) like The Talk of Connecticut (WDRC 1360, etc) is.

Hartford is one of the markets they've been looking to sell. Pretty likely if a new owner comes in, they will make lots of cuts too.

Whats with the rumors of Entercom possibly wanting markets like San Diego and Hartford. How is Entercom with being live and local?

Pretty much like CBS. That doesn't mean there won't be cuts. Entercom doesn't spend as much as CBS. But they won't replace local talent with syndication.

The other board speculated that Entercom might expand WEEI-FM into Hartford. I hope not. I've tried listening to WEEI and it's awful. I think the guys on in the afternoon on their competitor 98.5 The Sports Hub Felger and Mazz are pretty good. I've seen their show on Comcast Sports Net New England a few times.

Besides what station would they flip to simulcast WEEI? 96.5? If they flipped 93.7 there would be a lot of angry people. Possible riots and protests at the Studios in Farmington. If they want to put WEEI in Hartford let them buy Connoisseur's 4 AM stations. As much as I don't like WEEI's programming, at least it's better than what's on the 4 AM stations owned by Connoisseur. On the weekend those stations are wall to wall best-off programming and infomercials.
