Program Boss Jan Jeffries Exits WLS

It is reported on another blog that the playlist has already been expanded. Great news!

Interesting. Mind pointing me in the direction of that playlist blog report? If so, I'd say it's Jeffries himself who put any change in motion. You normally don't see a radio station in between programmers making that type of change.

I believe it was under Feeders comments that someone wrote that the playlist had increased. Do you see a flip coming? And if so what are your thoughts? In the past, country had been brought up but now we have two country stations.

Chicago is the only major market with two classic hits stations. With WLS floundering, maybe the time is ripe for change..but to what? There are no obvious format holes in Chicago.

Good point.

Playlist in the first week of June was 385 songs. Playlist last 7 days was 415 songs.

They have added 30 songs, and most appear to be in light (1x to 2x weekly) categories.

A third full power Sports station? Overkill? Look what happened to WGN's 87.7,but it was executed poorly and was on a signal not everybody could get. If LS AM did go Sports. maybe Brandmeier, Dahl and Garry Meier would fit on 94.7. Round out the schedule with similar hosts and it might work. No Rush,Levin and right wing political shows. If 94.7 stays the course. maybe returning to a true oldies station and letting the jocks loosen up would work. Yes, i know the demos would be higher, but WLS and WJMK play very similar music and Chicago is the only major market with two classic hits stations.

Because they're just so successful on 890? Really?

I think the reason LS is grabbing all the play by play is they know it's the ONLY thing that will attract an audience to AM.
