Once again Warm is seeking a new morning show

An excerpt of the job description as posted at http://jobs.hbispace.com/web/106752/job_12-15.html

"AC leader KRWM Seattle, looking for talent to build a long-term successful morning show that will become a compelling start to the workday for our audience.

"Do you want to work in a top market for a great team of proven winners? Hubbard Radio Seattle is looking for highly engaging, killer communicators now. You must have a winning attitude and work well as part of a team. You know how to communicate with adult women and have a proven track record of success.

"Can you really communicate and identify with your audience with relatable, condensed and contemporary content? You need to be likable in the halls, on calls and appearances and be ready to win."

Maybe Candy & Potter found their next home.

So John Fisher is getting a pink slip? That was QUICK. Only lasted what, less than a year? Mark Christopher lasted a year or two, and before that, Tom McCarthy was there practically forever. Is KRWM trying to turn their "music mixed with traffic and weather reports and news updates every half-hour" into a usual morning zoo full of Kardashian gossip? If so, wonder what will happen with the ratings?

How do you know Fisher's tenure was intended to be permanent or not?

How do you know it wasn't? He was turfed when The Mountain turned Hot and maybe Factoria wanted to try another established talent from the market. Then again this may be nothing but an EOE posting. It's all speculation unless you're the one who's running things.

Today's Hits and Yesterday's Favorites...sounds exactly like Sunny 102.1 in Aberdeen! But the slogan is used in practically every market, so Seattle and Aberdeen are not the only ones...

That's my point, let's not begin the feigned outrage parade until the facts are known.

Did they REALLY have a morning show? Seemed like just a DJ spinning records and chatting for 90 seconds here and there with the traffic lady.

KRWM probably used that style to gain listeners who wanted MUSIC, TRAFFIC and WEATHER. Not everyone wants to hear the Kim Kardashian gossip on KQMV, or War of the Roses on KBKS. Sounds like a morning show I would listen to. Good amount of music for the drive to work, plus traffic updates every 15-30 minutes + weather forecasts. KJAQ is the same thing with just automated music + commercials, I am sure there are a lot of listeners during the rush hour times.

A lot of people would argue that banter between two morning people is more pleasant to listen to than having too many people packed into one room talking over each other for long periods.

Doesn't it take a morning show a few years to develop? Seems radio is too quick to discard a show without giving it time. The KQMV morning show took a couple years to catch on. If KRWM hires another morning show it will be their fourth in three years, KLCK has had at least three different shows in three years at Hubbard as well. Scanning the June book 6a-9a the top shows in the key female adult demos are in no particular order: KQMV, KIRO-FM, KCMS, KKWF and KPLZ. The common factor for most of these shows is they have been here a while. Top shows with men are KQMV, KISW and KZOK. Guess what? All have been here a while. Took Danny B about three years to really catch on. KRWM, KLCK, KHTP, KMPS all do very poorly in mornings. Might make sense to give a show a few years, it takes even more time today to establish with so many choices on radio, mobile and web. Just a thought

Annnnnd....the new show is....."Allan and Ashley"!!

Allan Fee from Cleveland (started in Bellingham) and Ashley Ryan from Metro/KJR.

Marc Kays sez "It's very exciting for Warm 106.9 to announce the addition of Allan and Ashley in mornings to this great station. We have spent a lot of time looking for the perfect fit and we have it. So looking forward to hearing magic on the radio."

So there.

Interesting! I wouldn't have seen that pairing coming in a million years. Is this the first time in Warm's history they've had more than one person in morning drive?

Allan Fee was at KISM during their '80s CHR daze. I think he was still a teenager then too.

But wasn't Sue Romero only doing traffic? Years ago, Tom McCarthy hosted, with Gina Tuttle doing traffic and talking with Tom here and there. Will KRWM keep the "mostly music with some traffic/WX/news updates" show, or will it turn into Kardashian/reality TV fluff like the CHR's?

Impossible to say what it will be like. With that being said, i'm sure the folks at KXXO and KAFE would not mind picking up a few morning listeners if people don't care for it.

I am flattered. We began using "Today's Hits and Yesterday's Favorites" on Sunny before it was "Sunny", back in 1994 maybe, before I even owned the station which is now Sunny. Actually, it was the slogan used by ABC Radio Networks for their AC format. Not only are there a zillion variations, there are a lot more "Sunny" stations in the US since we adopted it in 1998, the year our "Sunny" was born.

What next, Seattle adopts "Today's Hits and Yesterday's Favorites" and KJR adopts "The Jet" which I've been using for close to 15 years. I suspect there are also a lot of "The Jets" but we have the actual call letters. Of course that doesn't matter much anymore.

I also note that within a year or two after we launched "The Quake" ("shaking up the Coast", "a tsunami of Classic Rock"), KPQ in Wenatchee rebranded as "The Quake". We recently launched a classic country format as "Timber Country". If someone else rebrands as Timber Country, I'll start thinking conspiracy.

What does matter in any business is consistency. I understand the need for the music to evolve, along with the talent, but branding is important.
