LPFM CPs in CA

There are currently 137 CPs for LPFM stations in California. 22 of them expire before the end of July 2015. Wonder how many will make it on the air? Another 27 expire in August.

Love the KFUG calls. That one seems to be on the air according to their website. Who knows? All? None? Cost money just to file the app.[/QUOTE]

If KFUG-LP is on the air they have yet to file the license to cover. If the transmitter is at the address they show at on their web site then they are a few blocks off on the coordinates.

Check your information again. A lot of the LPFM's have relocated and have been granted an extended drop dead date. Example: KLIE-LP Fountain Valley -- expires 1/29/2017. About 30% will never see light.

I will change the CP date for KLIE in my list. KFUG COMMUNITY RADIO, INC has yet to request call letters or file a license to cover.

They did file a license to cover and I heard their internet stream and at the top of the hour they said KFUG-LP Crescent City. The FCC has extended all of the CP in CA except for one up to 18 more months.

Relocation of 101.5 LP in Visalia to 92.3 is Expired and gone. Next week a new LPFM CP for 107.1 in Visalia - for Calvery Chapel of Visalia will expire as well. More room for AM translators and more junk. The FM band will soon be another "wasteland".

I sure hope 93.1 in Davis won't come on at all

What the hell are you talking about? There are no LPFM CPs issued for 93.1 anywhere within 100 kilometers of Davis. Besides which, you have KFBK-FM already licensed on that frequency.

The FCC has canceled the permits for:
KCUD-LP now DKCUD-LP GUSTINE, CA COMMUNITY OUTREACH WEST SIDE
KSCF-LP now DKSCF-LP SACRAMENTO, CA WILLIAMS MEMORIAL CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST

I expect a many more.

There's no more space in Sacramento for another LPFM

Until you show me your credentials as a broadcast engineer, that statement is nothing more than an uninformed opinion.

The fact that the FCC issued the CPs indicated that they found those LPFMs to be, at the least, technically feasible.

Well K.M, I'm not a "broadcast engineer" I listen to the Radio

There's like No Room on the FM band for another LPFM in Sac There's 96.5, 93.3, 107.1

Where will a LPFM sit at?

Good. Then stop making statements of definitive fact like you were an engineer knowledgeable on the subject.

Well, at this point, it hardly matters what your opinion is, Mario. There probably isn't going to be a new filing window for LPFM for some time, and neither you nor I know how many of the authorized CPs will get built, how many will begin operation and subsequently go silent, etc. What we do know is any LPFM that fails to construct or goes off the air after starting up does not create some new "magic window" for someone to file in.

I suggest that this thread has outlived its purpose, and now that I have explained the above I expect no more comments like your recent ones to further waste our time ... especially since we now know they are only your opinion and have no basis in reality.

In the meantime, go back and reread my last sentence in post #17. If the FCC authorized a CP, it can go on the air regardless of your opinion of whether or not it fits. The fact that many CPs are going unbuilt is the reality that a lot of non-profits filed without realizing how much these stations cost to build and operate. Now that they are discovering the reality (as I hope you are as well) they are letting the CPs expire. And like I said above, an expired permit means the next person to file, whenever the FCC opens another window, will have to prove to the FCC -- not to you -- that they can fit into the existing spectrum use.
