It would be easier for me to license them directly from the studios. In fact, I'll have to seek for legal advice first and later set up a crowdfunding campaign to try collecting money online for my project.

I'm in no hurry, because you can contribute bit by bit to get this site moving forward.

I'm one of a very few people who try to fight to bring online part of the TV history as originally aired. I know that with your help, it'll turn REAL, not only for those who grew up watching those gems, but also for children and young people everywhere in the world. I'm humbly doing it for the love of nostalgia and mainly for historical purposes.

It is my considered opinion that, for a site which is going to have the visibility that you appear to be planning, if you don't have legal rights to include every clip that is still protected under copyright law, you'll be shut down within weeks (maybe even days) of launching.

My suggestion is that you consult an attorney whose specialty is copyright law before you proceed. Otherwise all your work may be for nothing, and could end up costing you everything you own if you get sued by some company who can prove you violated multiple copyrights of their library.

You have a good idea, but I think you may have to make the decision between charging to cover licensing fees or operating a free site which could get shut down and lead to lawsuits.

Of course I have to charge, not only to cover license fees, but also to survive economically. In fact, the peculiar feature of my site is when at the end of a show, a message will appear requesting donations or charging for a specific price.

If you wait until the end of the show to tell someone how much they owe you for it, you'll be in a different kind of legal problem.

After thinking about it, I'll consider the suggestion. But I'll promise you all to bring any update. Meanwhile, I'm gonna turn to this thread just to see if everyone else is discussing my proposal and if necessary, answer what I can any question.

I took legal advice as strongly recommended to me and it was told to me that I should open a fundraising campaign in order to raise money to buy the equipments and licence the shows for my Classic TV project site, which I wanted now to turn into something more lightly and compact.

I don‘t know if this is the right place to shout it out, so here’s my Classic TV/Broadcast TV/Saturday Morning-related scoop:

I’ve come up with a brilliant idea I hope classic Disney TV fans as well as Saturday Morning ones in general will love.

It’s The 1 Buildin’, my video-on-demand project that honors the Disney’s 1 Saturday Morning block.

T1B’s true purpose is to honor at least part of the Disney Television Animation history, as well as part of the legacy of Saturday Morning and the glorious days of broadcast television in general.
