Lancaster's 1280 AM taken over by WEKU-FM ??

This morning I noticed NPR programming clearly coming through on 1280 kHz, the former home of "technically challenged" WKYY from nearby Lancaster, KY. During a break, WEKU was clearly mentioned. Anyone else notice this? Signal sounds good in SW Lexington. For years, however, WKYY has operated sporadically and ALWAYS with extremely low modulation levels. Interesting....

1280 in Lancaster is on the air again today. In Late June, after being OFF the air for several weeks, I heard them simulcasting WEKU-FM for about 3 days before going silent again. Now, they are carrying programming from the GCN radio network (Alex Jones) etc. They gave a new callsign at the top of the hour but did not positively copy it...WZXI or something. Good signal and audio in SW Lexington.

good ear...looks like they picked up the WZXI calls on 7-27-2015. FWIW...also looks like WWKY calls were deleted on 8-27-2012...just restored on 7-07-2015
