Kristin Anderson Leaving Fox 10

Hmmmmmm. Wonder if Syleste will be paired with Rick D'Amico at noon as was Kristin? I hope they don't burn her out with the very early start because she is very pleasant to watch on AZAM when she is on the couch.

Does this mean that Syleste will finally get a picture similar to the rest of the AZAM staff? Syleste has been on Fox10 for at least 2 years and when AZAM shows the 'flying tiles' of the news team Syleste isn't shown.

Perhaps KSAZ is just cheap. They rolled out the red carpet when Syleste joined them from KPNX (remember the yellow VW Bug promo?) and they do have her in all their "total cast" promos (like the dancing thingy).

I was waiting for you to bring this up.:)

I saw a commercial this morning with the Fox 10 AZ AM team (the dancing one). I noticed that Syleste was in the front, while Kristen was in the second row on the end (easy to edit out after she leaves???).

Syleste is a well-known dancer and has very good moves. She is also much shorter than Andrea, Kristen and the boys (except Rick of course) so my guess is they put Kristen in the back simply because she is very tall and that's where tall people usually go. That promo was made some time ago - probably well before Kristen decided to go elsewhere.

How easy is it to edit her out of a video?

I wasn't aware that the video was old. I had never seen it before. Of course, I normally only watch Fox 10 on weekend evenings - so that would probably explain it. As for Syleste being a "well-known" dancer, I was not aware of that. I watched her regularly when she was on 12 News and don't remember seeing her dance at all. But maybe I missed it or it was one of her talents that 12 News didn't fully utilize.

I don't watch Fox10 news that much but have seen the dancing commercial for about 6 months. I like it. However Syleste picture wasn't, as of last week, a part of their 'flying tiles.'

Yeah, KSAZ doesn't mention her much but she is an active reporter and fill-in for both Andrea Robinson and Ron Hoon on AZAM. Her reporting and anchor talents are both very professional and she has one of the most addictive laughs while on the couch with Rick D'Amico. IMHO she is the best addition to Fox 10.

I'd agree 100% !

I sincerely wish Kristen the best, but I always felt that she had the attitude of a Iliona or Alexis.

When Syleste came to the number 10 I had hoped they would have her in a anchor position, I've never heard of anything
negative about Syleste and her community involvement shows she truly a remarkable person.

I'm glad to hear that Syleste fits in well at 10. As I have stated in the past, I was not very impressed with her performance at 12 (and obviously Gannett management wasn't either at the time). I'm always glad when someone finds the right niche.

I very seldom watch 12 and hadn't seen Syleste (that I remember) there. Did Gannett fire her or did 10 poach her? That whole yellow VW promo 10 did when she came over seemed to indicate they "stole" her away. I don't know the backstory but it was a very funny promo. Not very often do we see one station call out another like that.

IIRC, Syleste started as a reporter at 12 News. Later, she co-anchored 12 News Weekend Today with Joe Dana. Finally, she was moved to the weekday morning news as a "sub-anchor" (at the time Fay was the main anchor, while Syleste and Joe Dana were secondary anchors).

Then, all of a sudden, Syleste was leaving and going to Fox 10. I'm assuming that 12 didn't renew her contract (but perhaps 10 made her a better offer). Given 12's anemic morning news ratings, I don't blame Syleste for moving to a much more popular show. During her time at 12, I just didn't like Syleste's news reading style (she and Joe reminded me of teenagers at the news desk). Perhaps she has now matured/improved and is on a show with the proper format to showcase her talents.

Certainly, news anchors can and do improve and mature over they years. When I was in college in the 80's, there was a reporter who was just starting out in Providence. She was very difficult to listen to, but continued to improve over time, and eventually became an anchor there. She then moved to Seattle and has been a reporter and anchor there for over 20 years.
