Howie Carr Attacks Pope Francis

HOWIE CARR ATTACKS POPE FRANCIS ON CARR'S RADIO SHOW:

Moments ago Howie Carr, an alleged Roman Catholic, went on mic to attack the Pope.

Carr mentioned that "the best way to avoid the Pope on TV is make sure the batteries in your remote are working."

Think Carr's words speak for themselves.

Well, at least Carr doesn't have Pope Francis in The Death Pool...yet.

Can Carr get any uglier ? The cosmetic facelift and tummy tuck Carr has had on the outside certainly hasn't improved the looks of his soul.

Perhaps, a few prayers are in order. At least, they couldn't hurt.

Moments ago.
Wow.

Even inside the Church, Pope Francis is criticized.

Would your outrage carry over to anyone who criticized Father Coughlin ?

For those who may not know Father Coughlin was a rabid Hibernian anti-Semite. Here's a summary of his background from an old time radio site;

" He blamed Jewish bankers for the Russian Revolution, and cited that Jewish influence created great turmoil in the region. In 1938, Coughlin published a newspaper, Social Justice, which for all intents and purposes, was a newspaper aimed at directly attacking Jewish people.

The times had watched Father Coughlin lend support to Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. Then at a speech Coughlin gave in the Bronx – perhaps his most famous – he gave a Nazi salute and yelled out, "When we get through with the Jews in America, they'll think the treatment they received in Germany was nothing." Proving this statement wasn't a one-time lapse of judgment, Coughlin stated "Jewish persecution only followed after Christians first were persecuted," after the Jews across Germany were attacked, killed and burned out of house and home.

Father Coughlin's anti-Semitism made him a hero in Nazi Germany, where newspapers ran daily, stating that "America is not allowed to hear the truth." Some of the American public shared Coughlin's views, and 2,000 supporters gathered and marched in New York, protesting the migration of Jewish refugees from Hitler's camps. These protests were not short-lived; they went on for several months, and Coughlin embraced his supporters.

At the height of his anti-Semitism, Coughlin had joined forces with an organization named the "Christian Front," which cited the now-famous priest as a vital influence. In 1940, the FBI shut down the Christian Front, after discovering the group was arming itself and planning to murder Jews, communists, and even United States Congressmen. Although Father Coughlin was never directly linked with the Christian Front, he never disassociated himself from their radical intentions. His reputation soon declined as a result.

Addendum: One of the biggest supporters of Father Coughlin, the rabid anti-Semite, was none other than Joseph P. Kennedy and Rose Kennedy, the parents of JFK.

Marys and if you must read the Herald let it
be Ray Flynn's column,my child...)

I'm not sure where it started but it seems the Conservative Talk Radio community has decided it's going to attack the Pope. Perhaps it's been researched by consultants. I'd like to know if Rush has done the same since I believe whatever Rush says, the local Talk hosts will follow.

I heard a local Talk Radio host complaining about Francis, stating his views on Climate Change are wrong. You know that the anti-Climate Change rhetoric can be traced back to Rush, who believes it's a plot to attack Capitalism. Then the local host complained about Francis' views on other issues, also saying he believes Francis is anti-Capitalist. And plenty of conservative Catholics called in, alarmed that he's going to modernize the Church.

This is in contrast to John Paul II, who Talk Radio loved, because he was so anti-Communist. Of course, the truth is John Paul's cardinals, ones he appointed, were the same men who elected Francis. And while John Paul was anti-Communist, he also spoke out about the excesses of Capitalism too. I wouldn't be surprised if John Paul would also speak against Climate Change if he were still alive.

To be a host on Talk Radio today, you must follow the Rush Playbook. Whatever Rush thinks, you must agree. I suppose I can't quibble too much on that. If my wages depended on ratings, and I already leaned conservative, I guess I'd follow whatever Rush says. If he likes Trump, I'll like Trump. If he believes man-made Climate Change is a hoax, I'll say the same thing. Even if I thought allowing gay people to marry doesn't hurt me, I guess I'd say on the air I'm against it.

Carr has made a very good living and developed his own New England network of Talk Radio stations sounding like Rush with a Boston accent. So being anti-Pope Francis is one more step in delivering what today's Talk Radio audience wants to hear.

No surprise that Rush Limbaugh is anti- Catholic. In his early days in talk he used to praise his father who was Anti-Italian and all Mediterranean Catholics who he thought were polluting the gene pool. Ah! The Master Race . Seig Heil ! BTW Jesus was a communist with a small "c". HE said if you have two coats give one away...and share with those in need.

I'd love to have some of what you're smoking. I guess you haven't seen Rush's ratings lately, or the fact that in many major markets his show is being carried on fourth-rate signals.

He was a savior of AM radio at a time when AM needed all the help it could get, and probably postponed AM's inevitable death by a decade or so. But his time is fading rapidly and anyone who thinks he's still some sort of model for talk radio hasn't been paying attention.

It could have something to do with this pope being a leading proponent of ...............................

Ravens: I'm not even Catholic. I will not permit you to use your political beliefs to attack the Pope. Stop while you are ahead.

I'll try to put it in a more general way: If you venture into political issues, you should expect to be criticized on those issues. Even if you're the pope. Hopefully that makes the point in a more acceptable way.

We have one great blessing: Howard Lawrence Carr will never become Pope. God works in mysterious and wonderous ways ..... ;-)
