The commercial ma$$ media (including Portland Central Broadcasting [a.k.a. OPB]) of course do, but no real Washingtonian who knows any better would. The Portland area ends at the state line. Unfortunately most Portlanders will argue this to the death and you'll occasionally find an ultra nationalist, pro-unification Portlander who will try to convince you that we are somehow a suburb of it. (I couldn't make that up if I tried.)
Basically there is the Vancouver area which extends to the state line and the Portland area, which conversely extends to their side of the border. We are two separate parts of two separate countries with entirely contradictory goals and ideology. While there is a river between us we are, in fact, scores of miles apart; politically, economically and socially.
